A promiment League of Legends commentator is in trouble after it emerged that he may have knowingly sent sexual pictures of himself to an underage girl.
Well-known League of Legends commentator Mitch Voorspoels, better known as Krepo, took time out from casting MSI over leaked photos. The Belgian confirmed in a tweet on May 20 that the pictures were genuine, and that he would be “stepping away from social media and MSI desk duties.” The pictures featured specific parts of Voorspoels’ anatomy and were mostly of a sexual nature. It also became apparent via 4chan that he had sent videos as well as pictures and text messages.
But one thing unclear from the former-CLG player’s own tweet was the age of the recipient, something which could have further consequences than just skipping the MSI final. According to an article by Richard Lewis, 4chan members discovered details of the recipient and claimed that she had only recently turned 16. Several twitter accounts backed this up and discord logs show the girl stating her age at the time as 15-16. Voorspoels is seen to have asked the girl her age but no reply was given.
Any reason for the leaks, beyond humiliating Voorspoels remains speculation at this point. One Twitter user demanded the commentator message him but never actually asked for anything and says he had no intention of blackmailing him. Several Twitter accounts claim to be the original source of the leaked images but none of them threatened Krepo before or since the leaks occurred. One anonymous source close to Voorspoels told Richard Lewis “he has been talking with many female fans. Friends have warned him to be careful about this but he hasn’t listened.” They added: “we also told him to make sure of the age when he got with someone. You can see in the images he does ask this now.”
This is not the first time that Voorspoels has been the subject of controversy. Back in 2015 he was in hot water over his defence of “blackface” and later backtracked, issuing a lengthy apology which was published by DOT esports.
At this time, RIOT have not spoken publicly about the most recent incident but this too has precedent, albeit unofficial. Ali “Grossgore” Larson, a well-known Twitch streamer was banned from Twitch for claiming on his stream that Voorspoels had slept with a 15 year-old girl. No further evidence was ever presented and Larson eventually apologised and was unbanned from Twitch. The rumours have hounded Voorspoels on social media ever since, however.
