Fortnite's upcoming Star Wars-themed season has Darth Jar Jar, launches in May

Fortnite’s next season is a Star Wars crossover.

Epic Games’ hit multiplayer game Fortnite is getting a Star Wars crossover this May. Fortnite: Battle Royale Chapter 6 Season 3 will be titled Galactic Battle, featuring a Star Wars-themed battle pass, weekly gameplay updates and a “live end of season narrative event.” This is the third time an entire season of Fortnite has revolved around a franchise, the previous two times being Marvel Comics-themed.

Also Darth Jar Jar is in this season, for some reason. Watch the trailer below:

Fortnite: Battle Royale’s next season is Star Wars-themed

During this week’s Star Wars Celebration, Epic Games announced that the next season of Fortnite will be Star Wars-themed, featuring map changes, weapons, and character cosmetics pulled from a galaxy far, far, away. Both Star Wars and Fortnite have crossed over before, of course–cosmetics for Stormtroopers, Rey, and Darth Vader himself are not new to the game. However, this will be much bigger than a simple in-game event.

This May, players can expect a new Star Wars-themed battle pass, adding all-new characters from the franchise to the game. We spotted Emperor Palpatine and a Wookiee Cuddle Team Leader in the trailer, who will both be in the battle pass, but it looks like Mace Windu is coming as well. Darth Jar Jar–a cursed reimagining of Jar Jar Binks as a Sith Lord, born from a meme–will also be in this season.

Additionally, players will be able to fly X-wings and TIE fighters, venture to themed map locations, and more thanks to this season’s weekly themed gameplay updates. Here’s everything you can expect to experience in the jam-packed upcoming season:

  • Imperial Takeover–2 May, 2025
  • The Pull of the Force–8 May, 2025
  • Mandalorian Rising–22 May, 2025
  • Star Destroyer Bombardment–29 May, 2025
  • Death Star Sabotage–7 June, 2025

These five weeks of story content and gameplay changes will culminate in an in-game live story event, which will likely transition the game to its next season. It should be noted that this is a much shorter season of Fortnite than usual, rounding up to roughly a month and some change. Seasons typically last 90 days, so it’s unclear if this means that Season 4 is planned for release immediately after, or Season 3 will somehow be extended beyond the Star Wars crossover content.

Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3: Galactic Battle will launch on 2 May, 2025.
