Ubisoft reveals Rainbow Six Siege X, plans for a big reveal next month
During the Rainbow Six Invitational, Ubisoft dropped a surprising reveal: the popular multiplayer shooter is getting a game-changing update called Rainbow Six Siege X. The project, which aims to revamp the shooter with upgraded graphics and audio, will not be a sequel or successor game to Rainbow Six Siege, as was previously rumoured.
According to Insider Gaming, Ubisoft developers Alex Karpazis and Joshua Mills described the game as such:
It is not Siege 2, and it’s not just another update. It’s a major evolution. We’re expanding and reinforcing the very foundation of Siege to ensure it remains the pinnacle of tactical PvP first-person shooters. This means major graphical and audio upgrades, refined game-feel, and new ways to enjoy the game, all while staying true to what makes the core of Siege so special.
Karpazis confirmed that Siege X is “such a significant leap forward that we can’t possibly do it justice here at the Six Invitational.” The above teaser hints at the project’s next-gen visuals, but otherwise doesn’t hint at any new mechanics or features.
For that, players will have to tune into the Rainbow Six Siege X Showcase, which is set to take place on 13 March, 2025. The event will be broadcasted live, featuring players, content creators, and developers showing off Siege X’s full slate of features “and many more surprises.”
The Rainbow Six Invitational 2025 concluded last weekend, crowning FaZe Clan as its champions following a Best-of-Five Grand Final with Team BDS. FaZe Clan not only claimed their first Six Invitational title at the event, but took home a whopping $1,000,000 USD in prize money.
