From Borderlands 4 to Monster Hunter Wilds, this week’s State of Play was packed with trailers and announcements.
Sony’s State of Play presentation for February 2025 went live earlier today, comprising 40 minutes of trailers and announcements for upcoming video games launching this year and beyond. This presentation gave us new announcements for games like Borderlands 4 and Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, but it also revealed all-new games like Digimon Story Time Stranger and Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.
Here’s everything you may have missed from the February 2025 State of Play:
Monster Hunter Wilds (28 February, 2025)
Capcom’s latest Monster Hunter open-world adventure launches later this month. This week, the publisher released a launch trailer featuring the return of a familiar monster: Mizutsune.
Shinobi: Art of Vengeance (28 August, 2025)
From the team behind Streets of Rage 4, Shinobi: Art of Vengeance sees the franchise return with a striking art style and 2D gameplay.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds (TBA)
Characters from Sega games and Sonic the Hedgehog will fight for the finish line in this new Sonic racing game. Courses will range from land, air, and sea terrain, with an all-new Travel Rings feature that transports races to CrossWorlds during a race.
Digimon Story Time Stranger (2025)
No, you’re not dreaming - an all-new Digimon game really is launching later this year! Digimon fans will travel “across worlds and time itself” in this game.
Lost Soul Aside (2025)
This action game has players fight to save their sister and the world at large from dimensional invaders.
Dave the Diver x Yakuza (April 2025)
Dave the Diver crossing over with the Yakuza game franchise? It’s more likely than you think.
WWE 2K25 (14 March, 2025)
The wrestling game franchise’s latest entry arrives next month.
Borderlands 4 (22 September, 2025)
The quirky looter-shooter franchise Borderlands is releasing a sequel this year, following up on the events of its somewhat underwhelming predecessor with new playable characters and a surprisingly grim campaign. Read more here.
Split Fiction (6 March, 2025)
It Takes Two developer Hazelight Studios’ latest co-op adventure game Split Fiction launches next month, and this new trailer dives into its campaign.
Directive 8020 (2 October, 2025)
The makers of The Quarry and The Dark Pictures Anthology have released a new trailer for their next horror game: Directive 8020. Its story centers on a group of space explorers who encounter a shapeshifting monster.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic (13 June, 2025)
This might not look like your typical Five Nights at Freddy’s game, but don’t be fooled by its seemingly adventure-based gameplay. There are plenty of scares yet to be had.
The Midnight Walk (8 May, 2025)
This gorgeous, stop motion-like horror game has players become the Burnt One and use their flame to navigate a world of wonder and horror. Fun fact: all of these environments and character models were molded from real-life clay!
Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny (23 May, 2025)
This classic revenge story is set in Feudal Japan, and now arrives with higher-resolution graphics and modernised controls.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword (2026)
Onimusha is officially back! New protagonist Miyamoto Musashi leads a new adventure in the franchise’s big comeback year.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater (28 August, 2025)
Konami’s Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake has unveiled its release date. Don’t tell them, but this was actually leaked a few days back.
Lies of P: Overture (TBA)
This prequel DLC takes players to the city of Krat in its final days of haunting beauty.
Days Gone Remastered (25 April, 2025)
If you haven’t played Days Gone yet, now’s the perfect time. This remaster adds new DLC content to the open-world zombie game, along with a few graphical upgrades.
Stellar Blade x Goddess of Victory: Nikke (TBA)
The action-RPG Stellar Blade is getting a crossover with Goddess of Victory: Nikke, inclusive of new cosmetics and gameplay content. Read more here.
Tides of Annihilation (TBA)
The streets of London have been engulfed by an Outworld invasion, leaving one sole survivor: Gwendolyn, who sounds a lot like Jennifer English (Shadowheart in Baldur’s Gate 3).
MindsEye (Summer 2025)
This sci-fi action game follows Jacob Diaz, an ex-soldier outfitted with a mysterious neural implant.
Saros (2026)
Returnal developer Housemarque has finally unveiled its next game: Saros. Rahul Kohli (iZombie, The Haunting of Bly Manor) stars as the protagonist of this mysterious sci-fi title. Its announcement trailer hints that this is a roguelite with bullet hell mechanics, not altogether dissimilar from Returnal.
