We got a new look at the next Borderlands game.
Gearbox Software dropped a gameplay trailer for Borderlands 4 at The Game Awards, revealing its four playable Vault Hunters. Players are returning to the sandy dunes of Pandora, as always. However, this time, the Psychos aren’t the only thing they have to worry about - a new villainous faction is on the rise, bringing war to the galaxy.
Here’s the reveal trailer:
Who's the big bad in Borderlands 4?
Gearbox Software has finally shown off gameplay for “the most ambitious Borderlands game yet,” Borderlands 4. The latest entry in the looter-shooter franchise follows 2019’s Borderlands 3 and 2022’s Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. Compared to the latter’s more fantastical take on the Borderlands universe, this game seems to be taking things back to basics with a continuation of the main storyline.
This trailer shows off four of the game’s new Vault Hunters, though it stops just short of revealing their exact playstyles. The trailer also shows off an all-new planet: Kairos, which boasts beautiful new environments blown to smithereens thanks to the arrival of a few new deadly enemies.
The trailer also reveals Borderlands 4’s big bad, the authoritarian Timekeeper. The game will feature “an immense sci-fi adventure packed with free-form combat and exploration, pulse-pounding boss fights, infinitely varied loot drops, and an eclectic cast of unforgettable characters new and old,” according to the Borderlands website.
Borderlands 4 is launching sometime in 2025.
