The 2024 Steam Autumn Sale is here, but that’s not all Steam has planned for the rest of this year.
Steam is officially kicking off its 2024 Steam Awards, awarding the year’s most beloved PC games playable on the Steam marketplace as well as the Steam Deck. 11 award categories are now open for players to submit nominations, with final votes set to take place sometime in December.
In addition to this, Steam has also begun what should be its penultimate sale of the year: the 2024 Steam Autumn Sale.
Everything you should know about the 2024 Steam Awards nominations
The 2024 Steam Awards nominations are now open for player voting. There are 11 categories in total, similar to the 2023 Steam Awards, with one minor change: the Best Game on the Go category has now been switched out for a Most Innovative Gameplay category. Here’s how Steam describes the new category:
The designers of this game are at the front lines of creative experimentation, bringing a fresh perspective and brain-breaking surprises. This game delighted, inspired and entertained with newness never played before.
Besides that, it’s same old, same old. Here are all the categories to vote for:
- Game of the Year Award
- VR Game of the Year Award
- Labour of Love Award
- Best Game on Steam Deck Award
- Better With Friends Award
- Outstanding Visual Style Award
- Most Innovative Gameplay Award
- Best Game You Suck At Award
- Best Soundtrack Award
- Outstanding Story-Rich Game Award
- Sit Back and Relax Award
My personal favourite category, ‘Best Game You Suck At’, has once again made a return this year – but which games will be nominated for the somewhat-coveted award? Well, that’s arguably up to you. Steam will recommend games for players to vote for that fit in each of these categories, but you can also vote for games you haven’t actually played yet.
The nomination period will come to an end on December 4, with the winners being announced on December 31. You can vote for your favourite games here.
2024 Steam Autumn Sale kicks off with deep discounts
Alongside the 2024 Steam Awards nominations, Valve’s online storefront is also kicking off the 2024 Steam Autumn Sale. This will be the penultimate seasonal sale of the platform, before its final – and usually pretty massive – Steam Winter Sale. As usual, there are loads of games to choose from with jaw-dropping deals. However, should you wish to abstain, there’s always the Winter Sale to look out for soon.
The 2024 Steam Autumn Sale will end on the same day as the 2024 Steam Awards nomination voting period, December 4, 2024. You can check out the sale here.
