Vampire Survivors is crossing over with another iconic vampire franchise: Castlevania.

Developer Poncle's hit roguelike shoot 'em up game, Vampire Survivors, is getting the most logical crossover content of its entire lifespan: a paid expansion with Konami's Castlevania franchise. The crossover expansion will launch this Halloween, adding new weapons, characters and music tracks from Castlevania to the game.

Vampire Survivors unveils collaboration with Castlevania

Konami's legendary vampire-hunting game franchise Castlevania is now crossing over with Vampire Survivor - a game that remains, hilariously, completely devoid of actual vampires. Developer Poncle is adding Castlevania-themed content to Vampire Survivor in the form of a paid expansion launching this Halloween, titled Ode to Castlevania.

Here's how Poncle describes the expansion:

The sun has set on Dracula's iconic castle once more, and as the moon rises a hellish horde of murky Mudmen, ghastly ghosts, and frightening Fleamen take the stage as the battle of good and evil rages under the moonlight. Unleash an arsenal of new Vampire-vanquishing weapons upon these beasts and leave a trail of doom in your wake on your quest to rid the world of the unspeakable terror.

Vampire Survivors: Ode to Castlevania is absolutely packed with content for fans of the Konami franchise (or subsequent Netflix animated adaptations) to enjoy. This includes more than 20 new characters, over 40 new weapons and over 30 music tracks from the games. A new stage is also being added, including Dracula's iconic castle. The expansion's new characters include various Belmonts and Belnades, along with various recurring characters from the wider Castlevania continuity.

Much like the games, players will also have access to spells and weapons beyond generic whips and spears - like Alucard's sword - and throwable weapons like javelins. The over 30 music tracks include a few remixes, providing never-before-heard content to even diehard fans of the games. Despite it all, however, the expansion will add zero new vampires. That keeps Vampire Survivors a vampire-free game, so don't expect to see Dracula.

Vampire Survivors: Ode to Castlevania launches on all platforms on October 31, just in time for a spooky session of Halloween gaming.
