Netflix drops new trailer for Devil May Cry animated series
Adi Shankar (Dredd, Castlevania) first announced that he was producing an adaptation of Capcom’s action game franchise Devil May Cry all the way back in 2018, before the project seemingly entered development hell for many years. That is, until Netflix officially announced the series with Capcom and Devil May Cry creator Hideaki Itsuno supervising its development last year.
During Netflix’s 2024 Geeked Week presentation, the streamer announced a release window for Devil May Cry: 2025. The announcement was accompanied by an all-new trailer, showing off its protagonist Dante slaying demons while wielding a sword and his twin guns Ebony and Ivory. Johnny Yong Bosch has been confirmed to voice Dante in the series, having also played Nero in Devil May Cry 4 and 5.Â
The rest of the trailer runs through more chaotic action scenes animated by Studio Mir (The Legend of Korra, Dota: Dragon’s Blood), before ending with an ominous look at an anthropomorphic white rabbit drinking a cup of tea. As some keen-eyed fans have noted, this rabbit appears to be a returning villain pulled from a cancelled manga adaptation of Devil May Cry 3.Â
