Honor of Kings partnered with badminton legend Datuk Wira Lee Chong Wei to release a themed skin for Han Xin.
Honor of Kings announced the summer of sports is still ongoing! From today onwards, Malaysian players will be able to acquire the first-ever national sports athlete skin on Honor of Kings, featuring none other than the star Badminton Player and triple-silver medalist Datuk Wira Lee Chong Wei!
This marks the first time a national sports athlete from Malaysia has been featured in a game. Previously, Honor of Kings paid respect to South East Asia's heritage by bringing a silat-themed skin for Lam. The skin was also followed by other unique martial arts from around the world, such as Lucha Libre and Capoeira, during the All Fighters Open event in Honor of Kings' global server.
Datuk Wira Lee Chong Wei endorsed the skin, fashioned after his likeness to Han Xin. The hero's humble roots, sheer resilience, and determination to prove himself mirrored the legendary athlete. Han Xin was also selected as the chosen hero because both shared a passion for achieving the best in their respective fields.
Eugene Chin, Tencent Games Country Manager, stated:
“We’re always looking for new and novel ways to introduce national heritage, culture, or in this case, sports in Honor of Kings. We’ve previously featured the Silat-themed skin on Lam, which was launched on August 8 which was received warmly by the local audiences, and we hope to showcase more national figures that are close to the hearts of Malaysians to resonate more with our players. This goal ties in with our vision of making Honor of Kings a truly global MOBA that every player can enjoy,"
Starting from 29 August, players can complete the following in-game missions to claim the skin for free by acquiring 1000 tokens:
- Invite a new friend to play Honor of Kings to get the skin! Insert your friend's invitation code to get a randomised set of 50 - 500 tokens for skin redemption
- First login redemption includes 120 tokens (one time only), and you will be able to get the Han Xin and LCW Skin trail effect as well
- Consecutive daily check-ins will issue 30 tokens
- Complete a match with friends to get 55 tokens
The Datuk Wira Lee Chong Wei skin was first teased through Animagaki, with numerous attendees experiencing the silhouette unveiling, to the delight of many young and local fans. Tencent Games also asked fans to stay tuned for the subsequent offline activation taking place at Bukit Bintang Pavilion!
Players residing in Malaysia can also score an exclusive signed jersey from Datuk Wira Lee Chong Wei and many more in-game items simply by visiting the Lee Chong Wei 3D OOH located in the Pavillion at Bukit Bintang and taking a short video or selfie!
