Fortnite is getting lots of Disney crossovers, starting with a Marvel-themed season.

Disney and Epic Games brought Fortnite to the annual fan event D23 this year, announcing a long list of crossovers coming to the multiplayer game featuring characters from Star Wars, Pixar and Marvel. The big ticket item of this collaboration is a new Marvel-themed season in Fortnite Battle Royale, starring Doctor Doom as its big bad.

Fortnite x Marvel: Absolute Doom will be the game’s second Marvel-themed season, after Chapter 2 Season 4: Nexus War in 2020. Here’s a trailer:

Fortnite announces its next Doctor Doom-themed season

Disney and Epic Games announced a $1.5 billion partnership earlier this year, and it looks like we’re starting to see the deal bear fruit.

At D23 2024, Disney announced Fortnite’s next Battle Royale season, titled Fortnite x Marvel: Absolute Doom. The battle royale game will kick off its Marvel-themed Chapter 5 Season 4 on August 16, with a battle pass featuring Marvel characters Shuri, Doctor Doom, Gwenpool, War Machine, Emma Frost and Mysterio.

The anthropomorphic banana Peely is also getting a Wolverine makeover for a new Peelverine skin, while Jonesy suits up as the Steve Rogers-like Captain Jonesy. While unconfirmed for the battle pass, we know that this season will also include a Sabretooth-Meowscles hybrid and a Fishstick version of Deadpool called Fishpool. The Fantastic Four are also confirmed for this season, though they will very likely be a separate cosmetic bundle in the Item Shop.

More Star Wars characters are also coming to Fortnite, like IG-88 and Moff Gideon from The Mandalorian. Perhaps the most surprising announcement to come out of this event was a collaboration with Pixar’s animation arm, which involves characters from The Incredibles coming to Fortnite. That’s right: you might actually see a gun-toting Mr Incredible in the battle royale game this year. Disney also confirmed that a few of its classic villains, like Captain Hook and Maleficient, will come to Fortnite this fall.

It’s clear that this collaboration is doubling down on Marvel Studios’ decision to focus on Doctor Doom for its next two Avengers movies, with Robert Downey Jr. stepping into the lead role (again). This will be the game’s second Marvel-themed season however, after Chapter 2 Season 4: Nexus War featured Marvel heroes coming together to stop a planet-eating Galactus.
