Dr Disrespect has announced a ‘vacation’ from streaming after being ousted from a game studio he co-founded.

Streamer and content creator Herschel ‘Guy’ Beahm, AKA Dr Disrespect, has now been fired from Midnight Society, a game development studio he co-founded. News of his departure came from the studio itself this week on social media, following new allegations regarding his ban from Twitch in 2020. The studio explained that, “in order to maintain our principles and standards as a studio and individuals, we needed to act,” by ousting its co-founder.

Dr Disrespect gets fired from studio he co-founded, takes a ‘vacation’ from streaming

Dr Disrespect has officially been fired from Midnight Society, a game studio he co-founded in 2021 to develop an extraction shooter called Deadrop. The studio published a statement on Twitter/X this week to confirm the streamer’s departure, following new allegations over his ban from Twitch in 2020.

The game studio wrote that it had, “assumed his innocence and began speaking with parties involved,” after learning about the allegations. However, it neither confirms nor denies finding any evidence to support the allegations - only that, “it needed to act,” in order to, “maintain our principles and standards as a studio and individuals.”

Thus, the studio is, “terminating our relationship with Guy Beahm immediately.” During a stream held right before the game studio’s announcement, Beahm said that he, “definitely [needed] to take a break from everything,” and would, “have to relay this to the Midnight Society, but, you know, maybe I step away from there too. Just completely remove myself from the scene. It's what I need to do."

Beahm hinted that he would take a ‘vacation’ from streaming following these allegations as well, saying:

But I think, first and foremost though, I did have a bit of a planned vacation coming up, but I might extend that starting today. It is what it is. People get fatigued. To be honest, I don’t know how long my vacation is, but maybe I extend that. We’ll see.

Beahm received a permanent ban from Twitch back in 2020, but neither Twitch nor the streamer ever gave a reason for the ban. At the time, the streamer simply said that, “No party admits to any wrongdoing,” and left it at that, moving his content to YouTube. This week, a former employee from Twitch alleged that the streamer was, “banned because got caught sexting a minor in the then existing Twitch whispers product. He was trying to meet up with her at TwitchCon. The powers that be could read in plain text.”

The allegation was later corroborated by two more ex-Twitch employees in a report from The Verge. Beahm’s immediate response was that he, “didn’t do anything wrong, all this has been probed and settled, nothing illegal, no wrongdoing was found, and I was paid.”
