The next instalment in the turn-based strategy Civilization franchise has been revealed.
2K Games popped up at Summer Games Fest to show off a new entry in one of its most celebrated franchises: Civilization 7. The game will launch sometime in 2025 on consoles and PC, but its reveal trailer sadly doesn’t give much else away. We’ll get a better look at how it plays this August, when 2K hosts its first gameplay showcase.
Here’s the trailer:
Civilization 7 launches in 2025, first trailer revealed
Developer Firaxis Games is returning for the next entry in Sid Meier’s Civilization franchise. The turn-based strategy 4X sequel Civilization 7 was announced at Summer Games Fest this week, with a tentative release window of 2025. It won’t be the only big franchise sequel to arrive next year, either.
This new teaser trailer doesn’t reveal much about the game itself, merely giving fans a glimpse of visual elements they should be more than familiar with by now: evolving civilisations that grow from simple nomads to become the populace of large cities, before we see the focus shift to more modern elements like trains and electricity.
The game’s Steam page offers a brief synopsis:
Rule as one of many legendary leaders from throughout history. Establish your civilization, construct cities and architectural wonders to expand your territory, conquer or cooperate with rival civilizations in pursuit of prosperity, and explore the far reaches of the unknown world. Will you build an empire that stands the test of time?
We’ll learn more about Civilization 7 during its gameplay showcase this August. For now, you can scoop up Firaxis Games’ last game Marvel’s Midnight Suns for free on the Epic Games Store. Check out more announcements and trailers from Summer Game Fest Live here.
