The makers of Disney Dreamlight Valley are working on a new Dungeons & Dragons game.

A new Dungeons & Dragons game is in the works from the studio behind Disney Dreamlight Valley. The game will be set in Dungeons & Dragons’ Forgotten Realms, and is said to be a survival life-sim game much like Disney Dreamlight Valley with an “unforgiving campaign."

The untitled Dungeons & Dragons game will launch on PC and console platforms.

New life-sim Dungeons & Dragons game announced

Disney Dreamlight Valley developer Gameloft Montreal will helm an all-new Dungeons & Dragons game featuring, “an innovative hybrid of survival, life simulation and action RPG.” What that likely means is that we’re getting a more action-focused life-sim game in the vein of Disney Dreamlight Valley, with a heavier focus on its story campaign, which promises to have, “resilience, camaraderie, and danger at nearly every turn.”

Gameloft Montreal previously developed Lego Star Wars Castaways and continues to add post-launch content to Disney Dreamlight Valley, with its latest patch heralding the arrival of Monsters Inc. characters to the player’s village. In a press release, Gameloft Montreal’s executive producer Lee Kaburis said about the new project:

We are honored to partner with Wizards of the Coast to deliver a completely new experience in the Dungeons & Dragons® universe. We are all big fans of D&D and are already hard at work bringing our concept to life, including growing our team, and we look forward to sharing more details in the future.

Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro’s SVP of digital strategy and licensing Eugene Evans said:

Our portfolio of IP including Dungeons & Dragons continues to attract amazing partners as we execute our plan to grow our digital games portfolio through licensing and internal development. Our partnership with Gameloft is a prime illustration of our strategy. Given their impressive record building incredible new experiences with major IPs combined with their passion for D&D and vision for this game, we are confident they will create an experience that will delight fans worldwide.

If your entry point to Dungeons & Dragons was last year’s critical hit Baldur’s Gate 3, the good news is that another game in the universe is already in the works. Payday 3 developer Starbreeze is also working on a Dungeons & Dragons game, so that makes two to look forward to already!
