Apex Legends' next hero Conduit is basically Titanfall's Spider-Man

Apex Legends’ latest hero gets her powers from a radioactive Titan. Sound familiar?

Respawn Entertainment has announced that Apex Legends Season 19: Ignite will introduce a new playable Legend to the game, Conduit. Conduit was revealed via a new Stories from the Outlands animated short, which dives into the background of the Filipino hero who just so happens to be a huge fan of… Apex Legends. To be fair, who isn’t?

Watch the short below:

Conduit enters the fray in Season 19

Conduit is Titanfall’s equivalent of Spider-Man, going by the lore cinematic above. The Legend’s origins stem from her town being invaded by a malicious Ion force, devastating her home and threatening the lives of her family members. However, a Monarch Titan arrives quickly enough to beat back the threat, though it only manages to do so by blowing itself up and sacrificing its pilot in the process. The village is saved, but the pilot is dead - much like our dreams for Titanfall 3.

The Monarch Titan’s sacrifice ended up saving Conduit’s town, allowing her to grow up and become a huge fan of the Apex Games. After it becomes clear that her family needs providing for, she decides to enter the Apex Games and become a Legend herself. To gain the powers necessary to compete with her favourite Legends, Conduit returns to the destroyed Monarch Titan and touches its radioactive battery to seemingly gain superpowers.

She’s Titanfall’s very own Spider-Man, basically. Web-swinging not included.

What can Conduit do?

Respawn Entertainment has not confirmed Conduit’s abilities yet, but early leaks confirmed that she would have a kit that revolves around shields, which are a fairly important component in Apex Legends’ gameplay loop. Her abilities allow her to regenerate teammates’ shields repeatedly, while her ultimate ability is described as ‘unbreakable Wattson fences’. This could either mean that she can generate shields in the wild, or reinforce Wattson’s fences - but the latter seems much too niche to be true.

We’ll find out more about Conduit as Respawn ramps up marketing for Apex Legends Season 19, which is titled Ignite. The season launches on October 31, 2023.
