Apex Legends gets next-gen console updates with its Warriors Collection event

The Warriors Collection event begins on March 29 - April 12.

Next-gen console users on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will be receiving plenty of visual and gameplay updates in conjunction with Respawn Entertainment's two-week Warriors Collection event, which starts from later today until April 12. Aside from introducing next-gen console updates, the event will also introduce a new Arenas map as well as a return of the Control limited-time mode. Of course, also expect new cosmetics with a brand-new Heirloom, this time for Crypto, which was already well-known due to the massive leak last week.

Caustic Treatment is the new location of choice for the Control limited-time mode.

Owners of either the PS5 or the Xbox Series X (no Series S!) will be able to support native 4K resolution gameplay with HDR support. You will also get higher resolution shadow maps as well as greater LOD (level of detail) distances. If you're a Series S owner, fret not as you will be getting HDR support alongside full 60Hz gameplay. These will be available on all next-gen consoles regardless. However, Respawn has already hinted that it will be bringing more next-gen console updates in the near future.

This includes haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, exclusively for the PS5 and its DualSense controllers. There's also the possibility of improved 120Hz gameplay to go with greater visual improvements as well as enhanced audio upgrades, something which needs to be addressed in a game like Apex Legends.

Face-off in a closed 3v3 battle in the new Arenas map, Drop-Off.

As for the Warriors Collection event, be prepared to drop into the Control limited-time mode. The 9v9 mode will be here for two weeks only and will take place around Caustic Treatment in Kings Canyon, which has been added to a rotating list that also includes locations from Storm Point and Olympus. For the new Arena map, look no further than Olympus' Drop Off that will be bringing plenty of new elements to the game.

Don't forget to also get your hands on the brand new set of 24-themed, limited-time-only cosmetics. This includes Legendary skins like the “Synthetic Huntress” Ash Skin, “Riding Dirty” Octane  Skin, “Jewel Olympus” Horizon Skin, and “Combat Survivalist” Lifeline. There will also be a brand new set of 24 themed, limited-time cosmetics, available through direct purchase (Apex Coins or Crafting Materials). These cosmetics will also be available in Warriors Event Apex packs for the entire duration of the event.

Crypto becomes just the 11th Legend to get his very own Heirloom.

If you're a Crypto main, you'll be happy to know that with the new collection event, the Surveillance Expert will be getting his very own Heirloom, the Biwon Blade. This is unlockable to any player who purchases all 24 of the event-limited cosmetics. It's a retractable sword that comes complete with advanced technologies for a hacking and encryption expert.

To go with the Warriors Collection event are some bug fixes as well as balance changes made to the game. You can read all about it here.
