Genshin Impact’s version 5.1 second half banner will feature reruns for Nahida and Hu Tao.
Struggling with who to pick between the Dendro Archon and the OG Pyro DPS who’s still relevant in Genshin Impact’s current metagame? We feel you!
Nahida stands as the top Dendro support for every team that relies on Dendro’s many powerful elemental reactions. With how Dendro is still relevant at the top of Genshin Impact’s meta, you won’t go wrong pulling for her or her constellations.
Hu Tao, on the other hand, boasts massive damage numbers thanks to her HP-reliant kit and Pyro being HoYoverse’s favourite element. Similar to Nahida, Hu Tao’s constellations are also ideal to gun for, as they can solve a lot of her playability problems at c0.
If you want to weigh in on your options further, then we’ve got you covered!
Pull for Nahida if you’re a true Dendro main
Being the Dendro Archon, it’s no surprise that Nahida holds the top spot as the best Dendro support, thanks hugely to the fact that her kit greatly increases the damage your team can do when it comes to Dendro-related reactions.
Nahida's skill, which can affect up to 8 enemies within her line of sight, provides reliable off-field Dendro application, as well as additional DMG that depends on her Attack and Elemental Mastery.
Her burst, which summons a massive Shrine of Maya, has various effects to Nahida’s support capability depending on the elemental types currently within your party, that being:
- Pyro: the DMG dealt by Nahida’s skill is increased.
- Electro: the interval between the DMG dealt by Nahida’s skill is decreased.
- Hydro: the duration of her burst is increased.
As such, it is ideal for team compositions revolving around Nahida to have characters who are of those elements, with priority going towards Pyro and Hydro. You’d still want to retain a slot for an additional Dendro character for the elemental resonance, which increases your party’s Elemental Mastery.
Nahida heavily relies on her Attack and Elemental Mastery to increase the damage modifiers provided by her support capability, making her a particularly easy character to build as there is little need for extreme investment.
If you’re a veteran player and already have Nahida in your character roster, then it’s very ideal to gun for Nahida’s constellations, even as far as C6. But specifically, go for C2:
The Root of All Fullness
Opponents marked by Nahida’s skill will be affected by the following effects:
- Burning, Bloom, Hyperbloom, and Burgeon Reaction DMG will score CRIT hits, with CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG fixed at 20% and 100% respectively.
- Within 8s after being affected by Quicken, Aggravate, and Spread, DEF is decreased by 30%.
Nahida’s C2 immensely increases her support capability, making team compositions with her in the equation nigh unstoppable.
Pull for Hu Tao if you want to see the world burn
If you’ve played Genshin Impact since release, you know that the landscape of the game changed when Hu Tao debuted in version 1.3. Once touted as the best DPS to get your hands on, Hu Tao remains a heavy-hitter even years after she was first released.
Hu Tao relies on dealing damage partially based on her maximum HP with the catch that triggering her skill, her main DMG source, consumes a portion of her hit points. The loss of HP correlates with:
- Her A4 passive which will allow Hu Tao to gain a whopping 33% Pyro Bonus DMG increase when her HP is below 50%, and
- Her best-in-slot 5 star polearm Staff of Homa, which gives her an Attack bonus reliant on 1% of her max HP when her HP is below 50%, so much of her reliability also depends on the gear you stock her up with.
The technicality of Hu Tao’s kit however, is only a small sacrifice to make when you see just how powerful she can be when you give her max investment.
Hu Tao being a Pyro character may mean she’s pretty much locked behind Melt and Vaporize , but the rise of Burning and Burgeon as formidable reactions to look out for leads to the fact that she still has a place within the Dendro meta. That being said, Nahida and Hu Tao can work pretty well together.
If you’re a veteran player and already have Hu Tao in your roster, it’s imperative to gun for her constellations, specifically C1, which immediately makes Hu Tao unstoppable as a DPS! Her C1 being:
Crimson Bouquet:
- While Hu Tao’s skill is active, her charged ATK consumes no stamina.
It may seem to most players that Hu Tao is relegated only to being a Nuke DPS, but don’t be fooled by the countless test damage videos proliferating the internet, Hu Tao can deal a huge burst DMG number, but where’s the fun in that?
Hu Tao’s charged ATK multipliers are nothing to scoff at, so spamming charged attacks when her skill is active can net you multiple instances of high DMG, making your enemies burn to ash in no time at all!
