PGL announce 13 Dota 2 tournaments until end of 2028, each with US$1 million prize pool

While folks are busy debating if Dota 2 is past its prime, PGL’s out here stacking events all the way into 2028.

Buckle up Dota 2 fans, there’s a lot more action coming our way. Renowned tournament organiser PGL has just revealed its extended commitment to the Dota 2 esports scene, locking in tournaments all through 2028.

While most other tournament organizers have events scheduled up to 2027, PGL is the first to take things a step further by announcing its 2028 roadmap. With this update, PGL now has 13 Dota 2 tournaments lined up, and that includes four new tournaments in 2028, each featuring a US$1 million prize pool.

This announcement comes two months after PGL first shared its 2027 tournament calendar. With more events being added, it’s clear that high-level and lucrative Dota 2 competition will keep rolling strong into the late 2020s.

The announcement also included a schedule change for PGL Wallachia Seasons 5 and 6. Instead of happening this November, Season 5 will now run from June 18 to 29, 2025. Season 6 is set to follow later in the year, taking place from November 4 to 16, 2025.

In addition, PGL is set to continue serving as the organiser for The International (TI), Dota 2's annual world championship tournament. The organiser has been the organiser for TI since 2017.

This year's Dota 2 world championship tournament, TI 2025, features a revamped format with a Swiss-style Group Stage and will take place from 4 to 14 September in Hamburg, Germany.

More Dota 2 tournaments from other organisers

Other tournament organisers have also made plans for the next few years. Serbian organiser FISSURE also announced a wave of Dota 2 tournaments, with four set for 2025, seven in 2026, and another seven in 2027. Danish organiser BLAST, a relative newcomer to the Dota 2 scene, has also lined up three tournaments for 2025 and four more for 2026. And it won’t be long until we see what ESL has up its sleeve for the next ESL Pro Tour season.

It’s safe to say competitive Dota 2 isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, at least not in the next four years.
