Team Liquid also managed to recover from their poor start to qualify for a lower bracket start in the Playoffs.
The Dota 2 ESL One Bangkok 2024 Group Stage concluded on Wednesday (December 11) with six teams qualifying for the Playoffs while four others were unfortunately forced to make an early exit from the tournament.
Team Falcons, BetBoom Team, and AVULUS finished in the Top 2 spots of their respective categories to advance to the upper bracket of the Playoffs. Team Spirit, Shopify Rebellion, Nigma Galaxy, and reigning The International (TI) champions Team Liquid also made the Playoffs, but will have to start from the lower bracket.
Meanwhile, BOOM Esports, Natus Vincere (NAVI), Gaozu, and M80 have been eliminated.
Here's how all the action in the third and final day of the ESL One Bangkok 2024 Group Stage went down:
Falcons, BetBoom, and AVULUS make the upper bracket
With PARIVISION locking up an upper bracket start in day two, seven spots in the Playoffs were up for grabs in the final day of the Group Stage. Falcons secured the top seed of Group A and an 8-2 record with a 2-0 sweep over NAVI, while AVULUS managed to hold on to the second seed despite a 1-1 draw with Shopify Rebellion.
BOOM had the chance to steal the last Playoff spot away from Spirit, but they only managed a 1-1 draw and were thus eliminated. A tiebreaker match between Spirit and Shopify Rebellion in the form of a one-versus-one between Alan “Satanic” Gallyamov and Erin Jasper “Yopaj” Ferrer was also played, with the former emerging victorious to give Spirit the higher seed over Shopify Rebellion.
Over in Group B, PARIVISION completed their Group Stage campaign with a 2-0 sweep over Nigma Galaxy, who had to compete with Kuro “KuroKy” Salehi Takhasomi standing-in for Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barkawi after the latter was rendered unable to play due to a sudden illness. With this result, PARIVISION will be entering the Playoffs as the biggest favourites, having lost just one game out of ten. While Nigma Galaxy could have potentially grabbed an upper bracket spot if they somehow swept PARIVISION, they are still qualified for a lower bracket start in the Playoffs.
Reigning TI champions Liquid were in very real danger of early elimination after only managing a 2-6 record through the first two days of the Group Stage. However, they managed to sneak through to the Playoffs after a fortuitous turn of events. Liquid scored a 2-0 sweep over M80 and improved to a 4-6 record, which gave them the last Playoff spot from Group B over Gaozu, who fell to a 3-7 record after getting swept by BetBoom.
