Six out of 10 Group Stage teams advanced to the Playoffs to join direct invitees AVULUS and 1win Team.
The Dota 2 Champion of Champions Tour (CCT) Series 5 Group Stage concluded on Wednesday (November 20) with six out of 10 teams advancing to the Playoffs, where the lion's share of a $50,000 prize pool will be up for grabs.
MOUZ, One Move, DMS, Natus Vincere Junior, Passion UA, and Dragon Esports Club survived the Group Stage and will be joining AVULUS and 1win Team in the Playoffs. Meanwhile, Zero Tenacity, Nemiga Gaming, L1GA TEAM, and Palianytsia have been eliminated.
Here's how the Dota 2 CCT Series 5 Group Stage went down:
MOUZ top Group A
MOUZ, DMS, and Passion UA finished with 3-1 match records in Group A, though MOUZ came away with the top seed and a 7-2 game record. DMS settled for the second seed with a 7-3 record while Passion UA finished third with a 6-4 standing.
MOUZ scored three 2-0 sweeps by defeating Passion UA and Zero Tenacity while L1GA forfeited their series. Their sole match loss came at hands of DMS, who scored the victory in three games. Aside from their victory over MOUZ and default win from L1GA, DMS also swept Zero Tenacity but were defeated by Passion UA. Passion UA earned Group A's third seed from 2-1 victories over DMS and Zero Tenacity and another L1GA forfeit despite a 0-2 loss to MOUZ.
L1GA only played one match in the Group Stage against Zero Tenacity, with the latter sweeping the series, and forfeited all their matches. Both squads failed to make it out of the Group Stage as a result.
One Move make perfect run through Group B
Over in Group B, One Move had a perfect Group Stage run after sweeping Dragon Esports Club and scoring 2-1 victories over NAVI Junior, Nemiga, and Paliantysia. NAVI Junior took the second seed with a 3-1 match record by sweeping Dragon Esports Club, Nemiga, and Paliantysia to offset their loss to One Move.
Meanwhile, Dragon Esports Club barely survived the Group Stage with a 2-2 match record off 2-0 sweeps over Nemiga and Paliantysia. Nemiga and Paliantysia would become the ones who failed to make it out of Group B, with Nemiga's only win coming against a Paliantysia squad that lost all but one of the nine games they played.
