Team Liquid make some big changes today, as 33 departs from the roster, and SabeRLight makes his return for the first time in almost a year.

Neta “33” Shapira has been a part of the Dota 2 scene for some time, playing on teams such as Hellraisers (ex-Planet Dog), OpTic Gaming, and Ninjas in Pyjamas. However, the player’s claim to fame beyond a fair few DPC Minor victories, came in 2022 when he lifted the Aegis of Champions with Tundra Esports. Fast forward to this year, and 33 became the first player ever to win TI with two different teams – as he helped Team Liquid through to an emphatic victory. Now, as teams make huge changes heading into the next season, 33 departs from Liquid.

Announced today via their social media, Liquid confirmed that 33 would be departing from the recent TI-winning roster, thanking him for his time with the team. Having joined in November 2023, 33 quickly took on the captain role and during his time with the team, Liquid secured second-place finishes at both the BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 and Riyadh Masters 2024 – while taking first place more recently at Elite League Season 2, and The International 2024, of course.

On the flip side, Liquid took the chance also to confirm their replacement for 33, as Jonáš “SabeRLighT-” Volek returned to the team, having played with them previously at ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023. After ESL One, SabeRLight played with Shopify Rebellion for some time, and although officially leaving their roster in May of this year, remained with the team through their poor Elite League Season 2. Now he looks to take to the TI-Champion's offlane and carry them through the remainder of 2024 and into 2025.

The new roster of Team Liquid is:

Michał “Nisha” Jankowski
Aydin “iNsania” Sarkohi
Samuel “Boxi” Svahn
Micke “miCKe” Vu
Jonáš “SabeRLighT-” Volek

The future for 33 is already set in stone, with rumours swirling about his return to Tundra prior to TI 2024. Soon after Liquid announced his departure from the team, Tundra was ready to confirm his return to their roster. In a post from William “BlitZ” Lee, he pointed out that 33 was extremely happy with Liquid, but wanted to build a team from the ground up and was allowed full freedom to do as he wished.
