One of the biggest Dota 2 teams remaining in North America will not field any North American players for the next season.
On Monday (September 23), Canadian esports organisation Shopify Rebellion revealed its new Dota 2 roster will feature three new additions in Peruvian carry player Enzo “Timado” Gianoli, Ukrainian offlaner Mark “mangekyou” Kharlamov, and Belarusian position 4 support player Kirill “Hellscream” Lagutik.
Timado joins Shopify Rebellion after leaving OG last Saturday (September 21), having spent the last four months playing with the team in Western Europe. Prior to joining Shopify Rebellion, Hellscream has only played for one other professional team in Nemiga Gaming with two separate stints in 2021 and a two-year stay from May 2022 to May 2024.
Meanwhile, mangekyou is a 19-year old newcomer who will be making his professional debut with the Canadian organisation. Though this rookie has little to no professional experience, mangekyou's potential (evidenced by the fact that he reached 13,000 MMR last June) may be what enticed Shopify Rebellion to take a chance on him.
Timado and Mangekyou will be joining Shopify Rebellion full-time while Hellscream has been added to the team on a trial basis. Rounding out the roster are Filipino players Erin “Yopaj-” Ferrer and Andrei “skem” Ong, who joined Shopify Rebellion in November 2023 and May this year, respectively.
This latest roster overhaul for Shopify Rebellion follows a disappointing season for the team, where they failed to qualify for The International 2024 (TI 2024) after losing in the grand finals of the tournament's North American regional qualifier to regional rivals nouns.
This was followed by American support player Kartik “Kitrak” Rathi leaving the team and superstar carry player Artour “Arteezy” Babaev taking a short-term break from competitive Dota 2. Shopify Rebellion has also yet to announce Ivan "MinD_ContRoL" Ivanov's status within the roster, but with mangekyou taking over his role as offlaner, it is likely that MinD_ContRoL has also either departed for another team or gone inactive.
Shopify Rebellion's new roster featuring Timado, Yopaj, mangekyou, Hellscream, and skem is set to make their debut in the Americas Closed Qualifier for BetBoom Dacha Belgrade 2024.

- Erin Jasper “Yopaj” Ferrer
- Mark “mangekyou” Kharlamov
- Kirill “Hellscream” Lagutik (trial)
- Rolen Andre Gabriel “Skem” Ong
With Team Liquid claiming the Aegis of Champions at The International 2024, the Dota 2 scene is now in its post-TI roster shuffle period as teams are disbanded, retooled, or even remade entirely in an effort to assemble the best rosters possible to try and capture next year's world championship title.
