Tundra put a stop to BetBoom's momentum at Riyadh Masters 2024

After a full three-game series, Tundra put the brakes on BetBoom's fantastic lower bracket run at Riyadh Masters 2024.

The fourth day of Riyadh Masters 2024 was a three-team elimination affair.  After Weibo Xtreme Gaming were sent packing by BetBoom Team in the opening series of the day, the defending champions, Team Spirit, were then eliminated by PSG.Quest, causing quite an upset.

The last series brought BB Team back to the stage to face off against Tundra. BetBoom is a very vibe-rolling momentum team and after crushing two keys, one just earlier in the day, they seem to be back on an upward trend. They have adjusted after their near miss in the group stage. Save reported before the series that they “feel very confident in their drafts and quite strong.”

*Spoiler Alert* It wasn't enough.

After convincingly taking the first match, BetBoom went out of the event with a whimper by the third game.

Tundra EsportsvsBetBoom Team 2:1

For the opening match of the series, BetBoom went with a SandKing first pick, which seems to be the hero to go with to make your opponents struggle to figure out the right counter. Tundra went with the Morphling position 4 that is now haunting your pubs – thanks Boxxi. In the post-draft interview, Moonmeander boasted that “Pure is the best Morphling player in the world”. If he is, he didn't show it in this game as he had little-to-no impact. Tundra got smashed opening the match, ran out of steam mid-game, and then got demolished in the later fights. BetBoom easily took the first-game advantage.

In the second match, Tundra went with a Sven first pick but the rest of their draft was once again pretty lackluster – including a Rubick for Topson who they just lost with, and a Venge and Marci, both with low win rates. But somehow it all worked and Topson got the game he wanted on the hero. A very strange game resulted in a very interesting result for Tundra to tie up the series to force the third game.

In the deciding match, both teams freshened up their lineups and strategy. Sweeping back and forth around the map, Tundra just kept picking up kills. Slowly, BB just seemed to be bleeding out and had no way to stop it – the Dragon Knight was too much to handle. Almost nothing went right for the EEU team and what started out as a promising series for them ended in a loss in the game and the event.

BetBoom's journey at Riyadh Masters 2024 ends in 5-6th place with $300,000 in their pockets and with Topson crushing their tournament medal.

Tundra will continue in the lower brackets. They have secured at least a top 4 placement with an astonishing lower bracket run.

The action continues tomorrow with two more elimination series in the lower brackets and an upper brackets finals.
