Crownfall will officially end on February 6, 2025.
Good news, Dota 2 players – Crownfall isn’t ending just yet! As the event’s original deadline approached, Dota 2 developer Valve Software surprised the community by announcing a three-week extension. Dota 2 players can now enjoy the Crownfall event until its new official end date on February 6, 2025.
“Well, if what we're hearing from friends, family, dedicated fans, coworkers, bus drivers, security guards, and even some cats on the internet is true, it turns out a lot of people could actually use more time to finish everything. So we're extending Crownfall's end date one last time (for real this time) to Thursday, February 6,” Valve stated in the blog post.
Valve extends Crownfall in a last-minute announcement
If you’ve been rushing to meet the Crownfall deadline, you’re not alone! But with Valve’s surprise three-week extension, players now have ample time to accumulate more candies and re-rolls. Make the most of this extra time — the event now runs until February 16, 2025.
Before the extension, many players were scrambling to complete all four maps of Crownfall. Even community figures like Jake “SirActionSlacks” Kanner and Alexandra "Sheepsticked" Roberts were publicly asking for tokens to boost their progress. The additional weeks offer much-needed breathing room for everyone trying to finish the event.
With the extension firmly set, it’s likely the next major Dota 2 patch will arrive on or after February 6. While Valve hasn’t revealed any details about future events or updates, we can expect more long-term features like Crownfall.
This aligns with Valve’s June 2023 announcement, where they shared plans to shift their focus from seasonal Battle Passes to consistent updates and features that thrive year-round.
“Community response to New Frontiers has helped us build confidence that working less on cosmetic content for the Battle Pass and more on a variety of exciting updates is the right long-term path for Dota as both a game and a community,” Valve stated in its “Learning from the Past, Looking to the Future” blog entry.
Crownfall is just the beginning of this new direction and we can anticipate more similar and experimental events in the future!
