Now that The International 2024 qualifiers are over, what should you be watching in the Dota 2 scene this week? Elite League closed qualifiers!
Dota 2 is rarely without action. Just last night Tundra Esports was the last team to claim a spot at The International 2024.
With the biggest of all Dota 2 events now sorted out, it is already time to turn our attention to another round of qualifiers for another upcoming LAN – this time taking place in Lima, Peru. From July 25th-August 4th teams from around the world will be competing for the lion's share of the $800,000 prize pool for Elite League Season 2.
Season 1 was held online between the end of March through the beginning of April. Xtreme Gaming defeated Team Falcons 3-1 in the grand final of Elite League to claim the top spot and ended Falcons' tournament winning streak.
This week the closed qualifiers for Elite League Season 2 will begin.
Elite League Season 2 closed qualifiers
- Between one and six teams invited (based on region)
- Between two and seven teams from open qualifiers (based on region)
- Double-elimination bracket
- All matches are Best-of-three
- Grand Finals are Best-of-five
- One team per region qualifies to the main tournament
Elite League Main Event

- TBD teams from closed qualifiers seeded into swiss stage (group stage 1)
- TBD teams invited are seeded into swiss stage (group stage 1)
- TBD teams invited are seeded into round-robin stage (group stage 2)
- Swiss Stage (Group Stage 1) - July 25 - July 27, 2024
- One modified swiss-system of TBD teams
- All matches are Bo3
- Top eight teams advance to round-robin stage (group stage 2)
- Remaining teams are eliminated
- Round-Robin Stage (Group Stage 2) - July 28 - July 31, 2024
- Two single round-robin group of eight teams each
- All matches are Bo2
- Top two teams from each group advance to the upper bracket of playoffs
- 3rd-4th place teams from each group advance to the lower bracket of playoffs
- Remaining teams are eliminated
- Playoffs - August 2 - August 4, 2024
- Double-elimination bracket
- All matches except Grand Final are Bo3
- Grand Final is Bo5
