Honkai: Star Rail 3.0: Remembrance Trailblazer build guide plus best Light Cones, relics, and teams

Image: HoYoverse

The Remembrance Trailblazer is a strong hybrid Sub DPS/support character players will be getting for free in Honkai: Star Rail version 3.0.

Honkai: Star Rail version 3.0 is out now with the all-new Path of Remembrance, with the first character available from this Path being the Remembrance Trailblazer. And just like the protagonist's Harmony version, the Remembrance Trailblazer is a very strong unit that players wouldn't want to miss out on even if they are a fully free character.

Character following the Path of Remembrance do not fall under specific combat roles like those from other Paths, instead having a Summon called a Memosprite that have a variety of abilities and effects that make Remembrance characters very versatile. In the case of the Remembrance Trailblazer and their Memosprite called Mem, they can take on a hybrid Sub DPS/support role.

With that, read on as we breakdown the Remembrance Trailblazer's kit as well as their best build, gear, and teammates:

Rewriting the fate of Amphoreus

Before we get into the Remembrance Trailblazer's kit, let's have a brief look into how Memosprites work like Mem work in battle.

Similar to existing character Summons, Memosprites have their own actions in the turn order and can attack enemies or use abilities on allies. But unlike previous Summons, Memosprites can be attacked by enemies and will disappear if their HP gets reduced to 0, though their accompanying Remembrance character will be able to summon them again.

Memosprites can also receive buffs like characters, though most single-target buffing abilities will not affect them if their accompanying Remembrance character is the one receiving the buffs. You will have to select the Memosprite themselves if you want to buff them. Or you can just use Sunday, whose skill buffs both the Remembrance character and their Memosprite.

Finally, Memosprites have their own Speed stat, but all their other stats will be based on the stats of their accompanying Remembrance character. Do take note that this is only based on how the Remembrance Trailblazer works, so future Remembrance characters may be exempt from this mechanic or even outright change it.

With that out of the way, let's get into the Remembrance Trailblazer's kit. Their skillset revolves around their skill, I Choose You!, and Talent, Almight Companion. The Remembrance Trailblazer can summon Mem using their skill and if Mem is already on the field, using the skill again will regenerate HP for Mem and grant them 10% Charge. That Charge mechanic is tied into the Remembrance Trailblazer's Talent, which lets Mem gain 1% Charge up to a maximum of 100% for every 10 energy regenerated by allies in total.

The Remembrance Trailblazer's ultimate, Together, Mem!, grants Mem 40% Charge while also dealing Ice DMG to all enemies. If Mem is not on the field when this ultimate is used, then Mem will be summoned before the ability takes effect.

When Mem takes their turn, they will use one of two abilities depending on how much Charge they have. If Mem's Charge level is under 100%, then they will perform Baddies! Trouble! to deal 4 instances of DMG to a random enemy before unleashing an ATK that hits all enemies.

If Mem's Charge level reaches 100%, then they will perform Lemme! Help You! to advance the action of a selected ally by 100% and grant that ally 'Mem's Support' for 3 turns. For every instance of DMG dealt by an ally with Mem's Support, the attack will additionally deal 1 instance of True DMG equal to 30% of the DMG dealt by the original attack. True DMG is a new mechanic that ignores an enemy's DEF and RES but cannot be buffed. True DMG works with non-Crit DMG, Crit DMG, DoT DMG, Break DMG, and Super Break DMG.

While Mem's Support is already a strong support ability, their utility is further increased by their Talent, Friends! Together! It increases the Crit DMG of all allies by an amount equal to 12% of Mem's Crit DMG plus 24% at max level. Mem's other Talents lets them gain 50% Charge upon being summoned and advances the action of the Remembrance Trailblazer by 25% when they disappear.

That's not all, however, as the Remembrance Trailblazer still has their major Traces to round out their kit. Their A2 Trace, Rhapsode's Scepter, advances their action by 30% at the start of battle and grants Mem 40% Charge when they are summoned for the first time. When combined with Mem's 50% Charge Talent whenever they are summoned, Mem will have 90% Charge when she is summoned into battle for the first time.

Meanwhile, the Remembrance Trailblazer's A4 Trace, Petite Parable, lets Mem gain 5% Charge upon using Baddies! Trouble!. Their A6 Trace, Magnets and Long Chains, increases the multiplier of the True DMG dealt from Mem's Support by 2%, up to a maximum of 20%, for every 10 energy that exceeds 100 energy of the ally with Mem's Support.

Finally, the Remembrance Trailblazer's Technique, Memories Back as Echoes, creates a Special Dimension near the Remembrance Trailblazer for 10 seconds. Enemies within the Special Dimension cannot act. After entering battle against enemies halted by this Technique, all enemies in every wave will have their actions delayed by 50% while also receiving Ice DMG.

When building Remembrance characters, players will have to separately level up the abilities of the Remembrance characters themselves and that of their Memosprites. In the case of the Remembrance Trailblazer and Mem, all of their abilities should be maxed out as soon as possible to get the most out of them both in battle.

When entering battle with the Remembrance Trailblazer on the field, make sure to use their Technique first to delay the actions of all enemies and let your party get the first hit off. Summon Mem and let them do their thing until they reach 100% Charge, at which point select your party's Main DPS to advance their action and grant them Mem's Support. Use the Remembrance Trailblazer's ultimate whenever possible in order to help Mem reach 100% Charge.

Remembrance Trailblazer's best Light Cones

Since the Remembrance Path has only just come out, the Remembrance Trailblazer doesn't have too many Light Cone options. With that said, the two Light Cones that the Remembrance Trailblazer want are both strong and completely free.

Your best bet will be the 4-star Light Cone Victory in a Blink, which increases its wearer's Crit DMG and lets them grant a party-wide 8% DMG buff for 3 turns after their Memosprite uses an ability on an ally. This Light Cone can be acquired and Superimposed for free through the Forgotten Hall's Light Cone Manifest. At S5, Victory in a Blink gives the Remembrance Trailblazer 24% Crit DMG and lets them grant a 3-turn 16% DMG buff to all allies after Mem uses Mem's Support.

As an alternative, you can go for the 3-star Light Cone Shadowburn, which recovers 1 skill point for the entire party and regenerates 12 energy for its wearer after they summon a Memosprite for the first time in battle. At S5, this Light Cone's effect grants 20 energy to its wearer, letting the Remembrance Trailblazer use their ultimate on their first turn if their relics are geared towards energy regeneration.

All other Remembrance Light Cones released so far are not recommended for the Remembrance Trailblazer, as those are designed more for a Remembrance DPS like Aglaea.

Remembrance Trailblazer's best relics

For the Remembrance Trailblazer's Cavern of Corrosion relics, we recommend going for a mixed set of the 2-piece Messenger Traversing Hackerspace and 2-piece Sacerdos' Relived Ordeal sets for the 12% total Speed buff they will grant. While we say the Remembrance Trailblazer is a hybrid Sub DPS/support character, the Remembrance Trailblazer themselves will be the support while Mem will be the Sub DPS. Because of this, you want to focus on getting as much Speed, Crit DMG, and HP/DEF on the Remembrance Trailblazer as possible.

You might be tempted to go for the new 4-piece Hero of Triumphant Song set because of the 30% Crit DMG buff its 4-piece bonus grants to both the Remembrance Trailblazer and Mem, but remember that the party-wide Crit DMG buff they provide is based on a portion of Mem's own Crit DMG. The 30% Crit DMG Mem gets for this only translates to around 4% Crit DMG to allies, so it's not really worth getting over more Speed for the Remembrance Trailblazer. Crit DMG is much easier to get from relic main stats and substats.

As for the Remembrance Trailblazer's Planar Ornament relics, go for any of the three sets that grant 5% Energy Regeneration Rate, namely: Sprightly Vonwacq, Penacony, Land of the Dreams, and Lushaka, the Sunken Seas. These three sets all provide good utility outside of their Energy Regeneration Rate bonus, with Penacony, Land of the Dreams and Lushaka, the Sunken Seas notably buffing allies if certain conditions are fulfilled. But if you are looking for a more generalist set, we recommend going for Sprightly Vonwacq to guarantee the Remembrance Trailblazer acts first at the start of battle to kickstart your party's rotation.

The main stats you should go for in Remembrance Trailblazer's relics will be Crit DMG for the body, Speed for the feet, ATK%/HP%/DEF% for the Planar Sphere, and Energy Regeneration Rate for the Link Rope. Substats to go for are Crit DMG and Speed.

Stat goals for the Remembrance Trailblazer include 160% Crit DMG and 150-160+ Speed. Once those two prerequisites have been reached, focus on getting more HP and DEF to help with survivability.

Remembrance Trailblazer's best teammates

The Remembrance Trailblazer will be a welcome addition to any team that can make room for a Sub DPS character that can also buff and advance the action of the party's Main DPS. Ideally, the Main DPS should have high energy and is Crit-scaling to be able to make the most out of the Remembrance Trailblazer's buffs. The three DPS characters that fit the bill the most include the newly-released The Herta, Argenti, and Yunli. Other Crit-scaling DPS characters can still work great with the Remembrance Trailblazer though, even if they don't have high energy costs to get higher True DMG multipliers.

Two more top-tier DPS characters worth mentioning are Acheron and Feixiao. While these two would love most of the Remembrance Trailblazer's buffs, their lack of a traditional energy bar means they can't help Mem gain more charge… if the Remembrance Trailblazer is at E0 to E3. The Remembrance Trailblazer's E4 can be acquired for free as the main story progresses, and it will allow characters without an energy bar to help Mem gain more Charge while also letting them take advantage of the bigger True DMG multipliers enjoyed by high energy cost characters.

Another character archetype you'd want to run alongside the Remembrance Trailblazer will be support characters with energy regeneration abilities, namely Robin, Sunday, and Huohuo. Those three characters will grealty help Mem reach 100% Charge as fast as possible on top of their own combat utility.

Robin has by far the best synergy with the Remembrance Trailblazer, as she gains energy with every ally attack which in turn lets Mem build up Charge much faster. In addition, the party-wide DMG buffs provided by Robin's skill and ultimate (not to mention Robin's own formidable damage output during her ultimate) lets the Remembrance Trailblazer and Mem pack a serious punch.

Meanwhile, Sunday can work alongside the Remembrance Trailblazer to constantly advance the action of the party's Main DPS to give them a ludicrous amount of extra turns. Sunday's ultimate regenerating a ton of energy for its target ally also helps accelerate Mem's Charge gain. Finally, Huohuo stands as the best sustain support in a team with the Remembrance Trailblazer for her ultimate's party-wide energy regeneration and strong healing.
