PGL Wallachia is in its last two days, and the two teams fighting it out for the first spot in the grand final have been decided. Xtreme Gaming will take on the team of the season so far, Team Falcons, in the upper bracket final.
Both, XG and Falcons, qualified through the Swiss group stage with a flawless 3-0 performance. In the upper bracket semifinals, XG took down TI12 winners Team Spirit 2-0, while Falcons sent Team Liquid down to the lower bracket with a 2-1 win.
Xtreme GamingvsTeam Spirit
Xtreme Gaming hadn’t dropped a single game going into their series against Team Spirit, and they maintained that record with a comfortable 2-0 win. Both games had similar scores and times, with the first one ending 33-16 in favor of XG, and the second one ending 33-17.
XG won the Elite League, defeating Falcons in the grand final, but had a very poor showing at ESL One Birmingham. But they have exorcised their demons from Birmingham, and seem to be in pretty good shape.
Team FalconsvsTeam Liquid
Team Falcons eliminated Team Liquid from ESL One Birmingham, and also defeated them in the grand final of BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024. This was a chance for the Western European outfit to exact some revenge, especially with Falcons playing with Leon “Nine” Krilin as a standin for Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak.
Revenge seemed to be on the cards after game 1, when Liquid played some amazing Dota 2 to edge out a game that was relatively even for about 35 minutes. But Falcons kicked into a higher gear for game 2 and game 3, and gave Liquid no chance to finally get a win over them.
The game 1 and game 3 mid matchups were exactly the same – Michał “Nisha” Jankovsi on the Sniper and Nine on the Earth Spirit. Game 1, Nisha got the better of Nine in lane, which propelled him to an amazing early and mid game. But in game 3, Nine got the First Blood on Nisha, which changed the dynamics of the lane, and in part, the entire game. A lot of viewers forget that Nine is a TI winning mid player because he isn’t on a team this season, and also his last TI appearance was in the position 4 role for the old Tundra Esports roster. So even with a standin, Falcons are looking like the team to beat.
Xtreme Gaming taking on Falcons is the perfect upper bracket final for PGL Wallachia. If there is one team that can clip Faclons’ wings, it’s Xtreme Gaming. For Falcons to win, they will have to break the amazing 10-0 record the Chinese team have at the tournament. Either ways, it should be an intense contest.
