Moments after he announced that he was kicked from Tundra Esports, MinD_ContRoL went live on Twitch to reveal more details on his sudden exit from the team mid tournament.
While Tundra Esports’ first series on the second day at DreamLeague Season 22 was about to kick off today, the team’s offlaner went on X to announce that he was “kicked before the match.” The first two game series of the day for Tundra was against Shopify Rebellion, and given the situation, it started with about 15 minutes delay, with Vladislav "laise" Lais standing in. While the first game was unfolding, Ivan "MinD_ContRoL" Ivanov joined Janne "Gorgc" Stefanovski’s stream and shared his side of the story.
According to MC, a month into his contract with Tundra Esports, he was unhappy about three things happening with the team. He revealed that the initial agreement with Tundra was that he would take the leadership role and act as the team’s captain. However, soon after officially joining, Tundra decided to take the captaincy duties from him and give it to the team’s carry, Ivan "Pure" Moskalenko. While he could make pace with this, in some capacity, MinD_ContRoL shared that what really bothered him was David "MoonMeander" Tan joining as a coach and Ludwig "zai" Wåhlberg joining as “player manager.”
"It started to add up inch by inch. Pure took my captain role, basically, he stole it from me[…]. That’s not what I wanted when I joined this team. I wanted to be the captain and the drafter. Then the next thing that came up was MoonMeander. He was suggested by our CEO and I said that I don’t like this idea at all, I don’t want to have this coach, I don’t like it. […], In a way, he convinced me to do it because I didn’t really have a choice.
So yes, I’m working with Moon, but I don’t like it. Two things that I don’t like already. And the third is Zai. Same thing. I said I don’t want to work with Zai. I don’t even know what this player manager does and I don’t like it. I don’t like three things already. What’s next, there will be more things that I don’t like?
So basically, I have no voice or power in the team as a leader. Everything is taken over by Moon, Zai and Pure. I hate that and I can’t let them abuse me anymore, it’s too much. I told Tundra’s CEO: ‘You have to choose: It’s going to be Moon and Zai or me.’"
Soon after MinD_ContRoL revealed that his departure happened after he gave an ultimatum to Tundra’s CEO and co-founder Anthony Graham, the organisation released a statement as well saying that in the event’s aftermath they are indefinitely suspending the player, pending an internal disciplinary investigation.
In the meantime, the team has tied 1-1 in its first series of the day, against Shopify Rebellion and is continuing the DreamLeague Season 22 schedule with standins in the offlane.
