Shopify Rebellion rebuild around Arteezy

Shopify Rebellion announced a surprising multi-regional roster built around NA super-star Artour "Arteezy" Babaev.

Shopify Rebellion caught their fans by surprise with their roster announcement. The Canadian organisation kept two players from the previous season, Arteezy and Jonáš "SabeRLight-" Volek along with coach Kanishka "BuLba" Sosale, and brought aboard unproven players from South America, Southeast Asia and North America to form a truly multi-regional line-up for 2024.

Jopaj leaves SEA region

Their trio core is now completed with former BOOM Esports mid laner Erin Jasper "Yopaj" Ferrer. This will mark Jopaj’s first venture outside SEA and the first time he will get to play alongside players of Arteezy’s calibre. Jopaj made his competitive debut in 2019, but despite being regarded as a SEA prodigy, he struggled to make a mark on international tournaments. He spent the first couple of years of his competitive career at Neon Esports. At the end of 2021, he joined BOOM Esports where he began to land Major and TI appearances. However, after making his TI debut in 2022, the 2023 competitive season was rather disastrous for BOOM who couldn’t keep the pace in Division I of SEA regional league.

Thiolicor swaps SA for NA

Thiago "Thiolicor" Cordeiro is one of the SA veterans, with nearly a decade spent in the region. He played for all major organisations in South America, but despite having vast experience on tournament stage, he is yet to land a historical win. This will mark his debut in the NA region, and he will do so by taking the soft support role at Shopify Rebellion.

Shopify Rebellion’s safe lane duo is completed with Kartik "Kitrak" Rathi, an NA veteran himself who took a nearly three year break between 2019 and 2022 to finish his studies.

An NA safe lane duo

Kitrak returned to competitive play around TI11 time and worked with T1 in a coach capacity reaching top 6 with them last year in Singapore. In the post-TI11 shuffle he switched to active play warming up at OLD G alongside double TI champions Sébastien "Ceb" Debs and Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen. He also stood in for the main OG team this year, at ESL One Berlin Major 2023 and DreamLeague Season 21. Starting with 2024, Kitrak is joining Arteezy in the safe lane at Shopify Rebellion.

Fans will have to wait for a little longer before they will get to see Shopify Rebellion in action. The team has skipped the upcoming ESL One Kuala Lumpur and will most likely make their debut in the new formula in 2024.
