Tundra Esports tap Fly as stand-in for FISSURE Universe: Episode 4

This will mark Fly's first appearance in a Tier 1 tournament in five months.

Dota 2 powerhouse, Tundra Esports , have announced yet another roster adjustment ahead of the team’s next competition. Veteran position 5 support player, Tal “Fly” Aizik, will stand in for the team during FISSURE Universe: Episode 4 as Matthew “Whitemon” Filemon steps away to prepare his VISA for the upcoming ESL One Raleigh 2025.

According to FISSURE, Fly will only stand in during the early stages of the event as Whitemon will be present shortly to compete.

This roster adjustment marks yet another sudden change in Tundra’s lineup within the past week. Just yesterday, the team welcomed their new carry player Remco "Crystallis" Arets to the active roster. He will fill the vacant spot left by Anton "dyrachyo" Shkredov, who unexpectedly took a break from competitive play.

Tundra Esports’ Dota 2 roster for the beginning of FISSURE Universe Episode 4 will be as follows:

  1. Remco “Crystallis” Arets
  2. Bozhidar “bzm” Bogdanov
  3. Neta “33” Shapira
  4. Martin “Saksa” Sazdov
  5. Tal “Fly” Aizik (stand-in)

Fly’s first major event in five months

The last-minute addition of the four-time Major champion in Tundra’s lineup will certainly make FISSURE Universe Episode 4 more exciting for fans, especially as this would be Fly’s first appearance in a Tier 1 event since October last year.

Fly’s last major stint was with Nouns Esports from November 2023 to October 2024. With the North American team, he achieved impressive regional results, though they couldn’t quite have an impact on the global stage before the organisation departed the Dota 2 scene in November 2024.

After Nouns Esports disbanded last year, Fly returned to Europe to lead MOUZ’s new trial lineup. Since then, he has competed in several Tier 3 events and qualifiers, which unfortunately yielded underwhelming results. Despite his current struggles, Fly has a decorated track record and will be joining Tundra as a reputable substitute.

FISSURE Universe: Episode 4 will start on 22 March with sixteen teams clashing in an online setting. Tundra Esports enters the US$500,000 event as one of the favorites - but with recent unexpected roster changes just days before the tournament begins, the outcome could be uncertain.
