With a convincing sweep TSM eliminate Shopify Rebellion from The International 2023

TSM ended Shopify Rebellion's dreams for an Aegis on home ground with a quick 2:0 sweep at The International 2023.

After four editions held around the world, The International returned to North America. TI7 was the last edition hosted by the Key Arena in Seattle, where Team Liquid lifted the Aegis of Champions.

The first lower bracket series of The International 2023 playoffs pit two NA teams against each other in front of the home crowd.

In the NA brawl, it wasn't only regional domination that was on the line, but it was a fight to avoid elimination.

As much as the fans were hoping to get the most out of this series, it was over fairly quickly and pretty convincingly.

In the first game, Shopify opened the draft with a BristleBack. Overall their draft was more innovative than most of their previous games. They went for a Willow Carry for Artour "Arteezy" Babaev and banked on the late game to give them the victory. TSM also took a different direction with their draft from the group stage to set up a battle of ideas.

For the first 30 minutes, every fight had gone the way of TSM while RTZ was busy farming still. Although he had doubled his damage by minute 35, it wasn't enough and didn't help his team as much as was needed. TSM was able to clean up against SR to take the victory for the first-game advantage.

In the second match, TSM banned the BristleBack which was the only hero that gave them a hard time while RTZ was busy farming in the previous match.

This time the game was much slower paced. Ten minutes in and there was only two kills on the board. Soon after Shopify started to get aggressive after their defensive postures and began not only applying pressure but taking down heroes from TSM. But once again, Shopify just couldn't seem to completely overpower their opponents.

Huge saves from TSM's support duo enabled their cores time and time again to bring them ahead and picked apart SR. With an impressive display and performance by Enzo "Timado" Gianoli once again TSM took a solid second game to close out the series.

Shopify Rebellion goes home in 13th-16th place with $46,146 in their pockets.

TSM will continue to advance through the lower brackets to face the other NA team — nouns later tonight, Sunday, October 22 at 01:00 CEST.
