Dota 2 patch 7.33c has been released and it will make the experience scenario easier for supports, along with stopping some rampaging carries.
The 2022-2023 DPC Summer Tour is about to begin, and just before it commences, we have been blessed with a balance patch in the form of Dota 2 patch 7.33c. Patch 7.33c has some important general changes and a lot of item and hero balance changes. The entire set of changes can be found here. We will dive into how the general changes are bound to change the way the game will be played.
General Updates
· Picking up a wisdom rune now also grants experience to the lowest-level hero on the team (if the lowest-level hero picks up the rune, experience goes to the second-lowest-level hero).
· Observer Ward experience bounty increased from 50+6/min to 70+8/min.
· When a stacked camp is killed, the player that did the stacking receives 30% of experience gained (same percentage as gold bounty).
· Tormentor Reflect now always affects attacking hero, regardless of distance.
· Cleared multiple tree paths that led to dead ends and deceptive looking terrain.
· Heroes bonus attribute points can now be skilled starting at level 6.
· Universal Heroes damage per attribute increased from 0.6 to 0.7.
The first change is absolutely huge for supports! GosuGamers did multiple deep dives into the importance of Wisdom runes, and the verdict was that supports will suffer in terms of XP in the new meta because of the removal of Tome of Knowledge and Outposts no longer giving XP. But with Wisdom Runes now granting experience to the lowest leveled hero, it will be a massive boost for supports, especially when a Wisdom Rune is picked up by a support.
The stacking experience is a substantial change as well. Even though the carry clearing the stacks will suffer a bit in terms of XP, it will help supports and is a further motivator for supports to stack for their carries. Will supports make more stacks now? Probably not. Because that’s how Dota 2 works in pubs. But the benefits are there to be reaped!
The last massive general change is Universal heroes getting 0.7 damage for each attribute. That’s a 16.67% buff for all Universal heroes in terms of damage gained. The base damage of Universal heroes has been adjusted accordingly, but as the game goes on, the buff will start to add up. This is great for Universal heroes for whom a chunk of damage comes from right click like Mirana, Void Spirit and Windranger.
Hero Updates
In heroes, Alchemist and Medusa have been hit hard by the nerf hammer, and rightly so. They terrorized opposition teams at the Berlin Major, and won’t be doing so in the final DPC tour of the year.
Some heroes that haven’t been performing too well since the release of patch 7.33 received buffs. The ones to receive sizable buffs were Invoker and Spirit Breaker.
As the DPC Summer Tour kicks off on the 15th of May, we will see the new patch on display and get a good idea of how the changes from balance patch 7.33c have affected the game.
