Team Aster fall to Team Liquid at ESL One Berlin Major

In a 2:0 sweep, Team Aster featuring Syed "SumaiL" Hassan was eliminated from ESL One Berlin Major. 

The playoffs weekend of ESL One Berlin Major kicked off with three lower bracket elimination series. The first of these was between one of WEU's top teams - Team Liquid and this season's favorites -  Team Aster.

After PSG.LGD dropped from ESL One Berlin Major, Team Aster featuring Syed "SumaiL" Hassan, was the only Chinese hope left.

SumaiLwas standing in for Zhai "Xwy" JingkaiZhai "Xwy" who became “inactive for the time being.” During the first group stage at DreamLeague unofficial reports stated that he was kicked from the team even before Aster got eliminated.

The first game was fairly even between the two teams. It took about a good team fight for Team Liquid about 35 minutes in to give them the upper hand and momentum, but another 20 minutes for Liquid to close out the game with their victory - despite a flawless game by Du "Monet" Peng on Slark with a 12:0:5 score. 

Team Liquid completely had Team Aster sorted out in the second game. Liquid's approach in the draft with the Alchemist and overall control of the game left Team Aster without an answer for the full 35-minute match. Michał "Nisha" Jankowski had a perfect game on Queen of Pain with a 14:0:11 record. 

Team Aster exits the event in 7-8th place with $12,500 and 200 DPC points. Note there will be a 40% penalty on the points earned in this event, in addition to the 20% penalty applied on their points already earned for kicking a player before the Major.

1st place: $200,000 & 500 DPC points
2nd place: $100,000 & 450 DPC points
3rd place: $75,000 & 400 DPC points     
4th place: $50,000 & 350 DPC points  
5th/6th place: $25,000 & 300 DPC points
7th/8th place: $12,500 & 200 DPC points
