Entity triumph in tiebreakers as Nigma Galaxy and Monaspa are relegated to WEU Division II

Entity made sure the Western European three-way relegation tiebreaker lasted just one round as they defeated Nigma Galaxy and Monaspa to stay in Division I.

Three way tiebreakers in the DPC Leagues can go on forever. Just ask Entity, who had to endure three rounds of it in the last tour to make it to the major. This time around though, when they were thrown in a similar situation to avoid relegation, they made sure it did not go to a second round of games. Entity took down Nigma Galaxy and Monaspa to stake their claim in the WEU Division I League for the 2023 DPC Summer Tour.

After starting the Spring tour strong with a 2-0 series score, Entity lost 10 games in a row to end up in the fight for relegation. But when it mattered, they were able to break the losing spree and find two wins.

The relegation tiebreakers started with a banger of a game between Nigma Galaxy and Monsapa , which went on for 81 minutes. After a lot of back and forth, the team of Greeks and Georgians was able to snatch the win from the TI7 champions.

But when it came to facing Entity, neither of the two teams were up to the task. Entity managed to beat both teams in less than 40 minutes, and never really looked like they were in trouble.

Nigma GalaxyvsMonaspa - Monaspa victory in 81:44
EntityvsMonaspa - Entity victory in 35:28
EntityvsNigma Galaxy - Entity victory in 38:20

This win means a lot, as Entity will now have the chance to fight for a spot in the final major of the season, the Bali Major. If they had been relegated, that chance would not have been there and it would have most probably meant playing in the WEU TI12 qualifiers. Now, they still have a chance of getting enough points to secure a direct invite.

Monaspa, though sad, will be proud of the way they played throughout the season. The team put up a great fight against some of the best in the world, and were nearly able to stay up in Division I. The major disappointment is the relegation of Nigma Galaxy, who managed to stay up by the skin of their teeth in the Winter Tour, and were expected to take it up a gear this tour. But they will have to go back to the pit of Division II, which means there won’t be any DPC Major appearances for them this season. If they have to make it to TI12, it will have to be through the WEU qualifiers. It will be interesting to see if either of the relegated teams decide to make a change in their rosters before the Summer Tour.
