Epulze has determined that KSH used a script in SEA closed qualifiers of the DPC 2022-23 Season, bans him, and disqualifies Yangon Galacticos.
As the closed qualifiers progress in the six regions, DPC 2022-23 Season SEA Tour 1 operators, Epulze, have announced that one team has been disqualified and one player has been banned from all of their events.
The accusation is based around Yangon Galacticos carry player Kaung "Ksh" Sett Hein using a script for BkB toggle.
YG lost their series against SPAWN team in the upper bracket finals 2:1 and were sent to the lower brackets.
Their disqualification then allows Drink Water from Indonesia to advance to Division II for the first tour of the season.
While the disqualification is in alignment with the precedent set in the TI8 qualifiers when Juan ‘Atun’ Ochoa was using macros to gain a competitive advantage on Huskar and Meepo, Atun was not banned for the incident.
One year ago a clip that showed now TI11 champions Tundra Esports’ offlane player, Neta "33" Shapira, micro ability on Broodmother during the OGA Dota PIT Europe & CIS Season 5 grand finals against Team Spirit sparked quite the debate. However, editing config files is a very grey area and no penalty or punishment was issued.
It seems that this is the first recorded ban for scripting.
Just four days ago PGL released a list of ten Dota 2 players that have just been permanently banned by Valve for account sharing and impersonating other players.
As of now, the ban seems to be applied only to Epulze events. Yangon Galacticos denies knowledge of the claim, outcome, or incident prior to the announcement and has requested further investigation and coordination.
Stay tuned for any updates.
