Following an immediate tumble into the lower bracket, Jacky “EternalEnVy” Mao and company found their tempo and sealed a trip to Kiev.
Flying Penguins was previously eliminated from the DreamLeague Season 11 Major by compLexity Gaming. They were blessed with an opportunity for revenge when the two teams met once again in the minor qualifier grand finals. Flying Penguins did not let this second chance slip through their fingers.
Game one developed into quite the marathon. CompLexity Gaming rode an early advantage a decent way into the game and claimed two lanes of barracks. Flying Penguins’ cores eventually came online and with compLexity Gaming no longer able to fight, were forced to split push. Luckily, Lone Druid and Nature’s Prophet are the premiere split pushers in the game. This recipe created an 80-minute game with a plethora of intense moments. Flying Penguins maintained composure and played safely while countering with experienced aggression to seal the first victory in the series.
Those who lose the marathon game tend to drop the series and the outcome was no different here. Flying Penguins finished the series off in game two and, as a team, secured their first DPC event of the season.
The third Minor of the DPC 2018-2019 season will be held in Kiev, Ukraine March 7th to the 10th.
Eight teams will battle it out for the lion's share of the $300,000 prize pool, 500 DPC points and the highly coveted ticket to the DreamLeague Season 11 Stockholm Major.
