WePlay!'s Winter Madness event will feature 14 teams slugging it out for a piece of the $100,000 prize pool.
Taking place just after the Christmas holiday and the start of the Bucharest Minor, WePlay! has thrown in a hefty online event scheduled from December 27th through January 5th.
The $100,000 event will be featuring four directly invited teams — Ninjas in Pyjamas, Alliance and Forward Gaming are already confirmed participants. One more team will be announced shortly. The four special guests are seeded directly into the playoff portion.
Ten more teams will compete in the group stage. Two teams will be eliminated before the playoffs while eight teams will join the elite four to compete for the title. Teams participating in the group stage will be announced in the near future.
Group stage:
- December 27-30th
- 2 groups of 5 teams
- Matches are played in the bo1 format with a round-robin system
- 4 top teams from each group go to the playoffs
- Last place team of each group is eliminated
Playoffs:
- January 2nd- 5th
- 12 teams participate
- 8 teams from group stage
- 4 directly invited teams
- All matches played in bo3 format
- Single elimination
- Grand Final will be bo5
Prize pool:
- 1st place - $50,000
- 2nd place - $20,000
- 3rd/4th place - $7,500 each
- 5th-8th place - $2,500 each
