Team Secret, Team Liquid and Alliance have all advanced to The Chongqing Major main event taking place in January 2019.
The Chongqing Major participants are quickly falling into place as the first Major of the new year and second of the DPC 2018-2019 starts closing in on the Dota 2 scene.
The first two teams to claim a spot were Fnatic and TNC for SEA, followed by NoPangolier and Virtus.pro. South America has determined their two teams to represent the region, paiN Gaming and Thunder Predator, and now Europe has decided which three teams will be on hand.
The European region was quite a bloodbath, stacked with formidable teams and high-rank players. It was one of the more highly anticipated qualifiers and with good reason.
Starting things off was the first surprise as NiP fell quickly from contention, not even getting out of the group stage and failing to secure a single series.
The second disappointment was for fans watching OG get eliminated next in the deciding game between the TI8 champions and Alliance.
When the groups had finished, it was down to four - Team Secret, Alliance, Team Liquid and The Final Tribe vying for one of three spots. That meant, one of these teams would not make it out of the playoffs with a ticket to China. It seemed that TFT was the one holding the short straw at the end, with two consecutive 2:0 sweeps, first by Team Secret to be knocked into the lower brackets and then by Alliance for elimination.
China and NA Chongqing Major closed qualifiers are still underway. Three representatives from all three of the remaining regions will head to The Chongqing Major.
StarLadder and ImbaTV will be hosting the second Major of the DPC 2018-2019 season in Chongqing, China. The Chongqing Major will be held from the 19th to the 27th of January 2019 with sixteen of the world's best teams competing for the largest slice of the $1,000,000 and 15,000 DPC points.
