Along with some familiar faces and some dearly missed ones, Perfect World announced a few surprises with the broadcast talent announcement for the upcoming Dota Asia Championships 2018 Major.
For the upcoming fifth Major of the Dota Pro Circuit season 2017-18, Perfect World, the tournament organizers, announced the broadcast talent of casters, analysts, observers and the host for the Dota 2 Asia Championships, a favorite amongst the community, in its third iteration. The announcement came in a tweet just a week before the tournament is scheduled to begin.
The event will be hosted by none other than Paul "Redeye" Chaloner, a professional and skilled man at the job who has become familiar not just in the Dota 2 community but the esports scene as a whole as one to rely on to carry out the job flawlessly, with some comedic quips thrown in.
The hypecasters who keep us excited, alert and make our hearts beat faster in the chaotic and intense team fights will be the well-known Owen "ODPixel" Davies, Tobi "TobiWan" Dawson, Chan "WinteR" Litt Binn and Ioannis "Fogged" Loucas. Joining them will be none other than Dakota "KotLGuy" Cox who will be returning for the first time as a part of the broadcast talent of a Dota 2 Major since the infamous Shanghai Major itself. He expressed his excitement and gratitude in a tweet shortly after the announcement as his addition to the group was responded with much positivity from the community.
The analysts, who often pair up with hypecasters to provide a balanced and well-rounded casting experience, the informed and educated minds of the Dota 2 scene will be Austin "Capitalist" Walsh, William "Blitz" Lee, Dominik "Lacoste" Stipic and Jack "KBBQ" Chen. Joining them will be none other than Kyle "Kyle/swindlemelonzz" Freedman who was recently released from compLexity Gaming and will spend some time in the seat of a caster instead of that of an athlete. He responded to his inclusion in the lineup with this playful jab at Redeye in a tweet.
And let us not forget a key part of the broadcasting talent, those who rarely get to shine in the limelight and work hard behind the scenes to keep the viewing experience of a spectator focused and effortless, the observers Johan "Weppas" Westberg and Rikard "Skrff" Holm Melin, who confirmed their presence at the tournament.
The Dota 2 Asia Championships 2018 will be the fifth Major of the season and will boast a prize pool of $1 Million and 1500 Dota Pro Circuit points and will feature 16 teams from across the world, 6 of which are direct invites. It is scheduled to begin on the 29th of March.
