Taking both the Douyu Cup and HuomaoTV Mid-Summer League, Tongfu has proven themselves to be the best team in China outside of the teams participating in The International 5.
The Douyu Cup and HuomaoTV Mid-Summer League has both ended with Tongfu taking first place and Newbee.Y taking second place. These victories has earned Tongfu RMB140,000 (about $22,000).
In both tournaments, Tongfu performed spectacularly, only dropping five games and having one draw out of more than 15 games played.
In the Douyu Cup, Tongfu went flawless through the playoffs except for their one loss against Newbee.Y in the finals. With the finals being best-of-three, and their score against Newbee.Y being 2-1, it could be said that Newbee.Y gave Tongfu a hard time. However, in the HuomaoTV Mid-Summer League finals, Tongfu crushed Newbee.Y 3-1 proving that they are the best of the up and coming teams in China.
This stellar performance by Tongfu might result in them following in the path of post-TI4 CDEC, going from a second tier team to a team who is given 50-50 odds against the best in China. Considering Newbee.Y's performance as well, finishing second in both tournaments, it is highly possible that not one but both teams will follow the path of CDEC.
