ROTK: 'I have taught, taught all I can. I have done, done all I can for these new players.'

In an player feature style video by ImbaTV, ROTK talks about his time in Dota 1, as a player on DK and VG during TI3 and 4 and his current goals for his current team, EHOME.

Intergrating an interview with rOtk and introductory narration about his past, a video produced by ImbaTV contained some interesting information regarding rOtk's time in DK, Dota 1 and current goals.

ROTK on...

....joining DK and their performance at TI2 and TI3

In 2011, I received an invitation from Xu 'BurNIng' Zhi Lei to join DK, I accepted and stayed with them for the next two and a half years. We had quite a few achievements in Dota 1 during 2011, we basically won all the tournaments there were, but when we switched to Dota2 in 2012, our performance went downhill.

*After some narration about playing with DK in TI2 and TI3*

During TI2 I felt that everyone on the team (DK) were out of shape, resulting in the fourth place finish, not a very good result. As for TI3, the team's form was average, It felt like the team was unable to find the tournament's style. I feel that in this kind of tournament, if your team is unable to find their direction and style, it is very hard for the team to be confident and charge forwards to victory; to be able to be really really unafraid of losing to the opponent instead of feeling like you might or might not win. I felt this was the main reason why we (DK) failed to achieve good results during TI3 and TI2.

...leaving DK

I feel that BurNIng was really immature but he is okay now. Back then, neither him nor the organization felt that our individual performances were weak; they missed the real reason for our bad performance. As mentioned before, our bad performance was due to being unable to find the team's play style, unable to know what we played best and what was best in the current patch. During that time, I kept feeling as if he was an idiot and felt nothing else towards him.

...joining VG and their subsequent TI4 performance

I received an invitation from the boss of VG to join them, I accepted with some conditions such as allowing Super to join and also keeping Fy and Fenrir, both of which were new players who i felt had potential back then; they have grown since then.

I can only say that during TI4 our luck was really bad, the performance of everyone on the team was near perfect, including two first time TI players (Fy and Fenrir). These two players performances might not be 100% perfect to themselves but as first time TI players, it was really good. (refering to TI4 finals) If we took the second game in the best-of-five we could have won the series. In game two, I wanted to pick Brewmaster, however Super said he was much more confident playing a Viper that game, so i picked him a Viper, allowing Newbee to pick a Brewmaster which worked very well against us. This mistake might have lost us the series, but we had no choice, just lacking some luck.

...joining EHOME and their current state

CDEC's performance was saddening to see during the DAC, but after the lost they asked me to help them, to help realize the potential and make CDEC into a tier 1 team; I agreed to it. But afterwards, Maybe, a player I wanted to teach, was invited by LGD and decided to join them (therefore dismantling the team). If I were in his shoes, I would have done the same thing, so me losing the chance to teach CDEC I could understand.

This is when EHOME found me. I have always wanted to teach Maybe and Zyf, both players have asked me to coach them. Zyf on EHOME is probably the main reason why I joined them.

Without winning against any of the top Chinese teams, I knew it was very hard for us to get a TI5 so we are going to have to fight through the qualifiers. It is going to be hard but my goal is to bring this team to TI5 and that is all. Where these new players (on EHOME) go after that is up to them, I have taught. Taught all I can. I have done. Done all I can.
