The fifth iteration of the Dota 2 CCT Series will feature 12 teams fighting for a $50,000 prize pool.
The Dota 2 Champion of Champions Tour (CCT) Series 5, organised by Gam3rs_x + GRID, is set to kick off on Saturday (November 16) and will feature 12 teams from all across Europe fight for their cut of a $50,000 prize pool. This marks the fifth iteration of the Dota 2 CCT Series of online tournaments, which kicked off last June.
Here's everything you need to know about the Dota 2 CCT Series 5:
Teams
The Dota 2 CCT Series 5 will feature a total of 12 participating teams, split into Playoff Seeds and Group Stage seeds.
The two Playoff Seeds include Dota 2 CCT Series 1 and 3 champions AVULUS, as well as 1win Team.
Meanwhile, the Group Stage seeds include Series 4 champions Dragon Esports Club, Series 2 champions L1GA TEAM, MOUZ, Natus Vincere Junior, DMS, Passion UA, Nemiga Gaming, Palianytsia, One Move, and Zero Tenacity.
Format
The Dota 2 CCT Series 5 will be hosted online from November 16 to 25 and is split into two distinct stages: the Group Stage, from November 16 to 20, and the Playoffs, from November 21 to 25.
AVULUS and 1win Team have received direct berths to the Playoffs while Dragon Esports Club, L1GA TEAM, MOUZ, Natus Vincere Junior, DMS, Passion UA, Nemiga Gaming, Paliantysia, One Move, and Zero Tenacity will have to start from the Group Stage.
The Group Stage will split the 10 Group Stage seeds into two groups of five teams each and pit them in a single round-robin competitive format with best-of-three matches to determine who will advance to the Playoffs. The top 3 teams from each group will advance to the Playoffs while the bottom two will be eliminated.
The Playoffs will then follow a double-elimination format with all matches being a best-of-three except for the Grand Finals, which will be a full best-of-five series.
