Invictus Gaming followed their GEST Challenge title yesterday with an equally impressive 2-0 victory against team NewBee on the finals of the WVW tournament. iG will receive $5,500~ for this win.
Fresh off a 3-1 victory against DK in the finals of the GEST Challenge tournament, Invictus Gaming turned up with another impressive showing as they defeated NewBee 2-0 in the finals of the WVW tournament. With DK and NewBee sharing the spotlight last week, the winning team of The International 2 made sure that their team name would be prominent among the discussion of the upcoming TI's favorites.
Known for their roaming supports and strong team fight/push, iG showed just that as they defeated Newbee convincingly. Both wins did not exceed the 35-minute mark, and they were well ahead on both games.
NewBee's rather unusual middle-lane Elder Titan was punished by their enemy, and the team's long-range defense in Plague Wards, Astral Spirit and Call Down were rendered useless against the pushing power from Exorcism and Scepter-buffed Eye of the Storm. 430 was particularly impressive with his Death Prophet, and was able to go with a greedy Midas build because of his lane opponent.
The second game was more of the same, but this time NewBee got a more favorable start after claiming first blood and several other kills. As the prior one though, iG showed great rotations from their support and amazing coordination during their pushes. Despite Wraith King getting a good start, he was still helpless against the strong five-man attack of iG which involved a Chronosphere, Ice Blast and Nether Ward.
iG will receive $5,500~ for their victory. They will compete on a third-place decider match tomorrow against Speed.CN for V Games, but more importantly the team will travel to Germany not long for now to compete on ESL One which will be held this 28-29 June.
Prize distribution:
1st place: Invictus Gaming ($5,450~)
2nd place: NewBee ($1,280~)
3rd/4th place: DK, Vici Gaming ($400~)
