The Chinese scene has been hit with yet another shuffle as LGD has replaced Yao 'Maybe' Lu with Peng 'Icy' Wang, former player for Rattlesnake.
Many considered Yao 'Maybe' Lu as the brightest star in the shuffle that hit the Chinese scene nearly two months ago. Maybe replaced the outgoing LGD captain, Zhang 'xiao8' Ning, who left the organisation after years of faithful service to join NewBee. However, not more than month after his acquisition, LGD has announced that the young star will no longer be a part of the first team and instead will be replaced by Peng 'Icy' Wang.
LGD paid 80,000 RMB (~$12,900) for the acquisiton of Icy, who recently joined Gong 'ZSMJ' Jian in HyperGloryTeam's new Dota 2 roster. Formerly of Rattlesnake Gaming, Icy will now officially represent LGD in all of the official matches including the upcoming WPC-ACE II.
Icy is by no means a newcomer, having played for The International 3 after his team then, Rattlesnake, won the wildcard tournament against Quantic. He was also part of the WE team which lost to mousesports on the wildcard match that will decide the team who will replace MUFC back on The International. He has played the offlane role on both of those teams.
LGD released the following statement on their facebook:
Greetings,
It is with regret we announce that Yao “Maybe” Lu will no longer represent LGD-Gaming’s first team in future tournaments. He will be replaced by former World Elite and RattleSnake player, Peng “Icy” Wang. The Association of Chinese eSports (ACE) have authorized this transfer, and we would like to thank all parties involved for making this possible. LGD-Gaming have paid HyperGloryTeam 80,000 RMB in order to acquire his services.
However, Maybe remains a member of our club. He will be our team’s sixth player, but he also has the opportunity to create a second team. If he creates a second team for LGD-Gaming, he will have the freedom to pick the players he wants.
Despite this change, we hope that you will continue to support us. Please, welcome Icy to our ranks.
Best regards,
LGD-Gaming
Although no clear reason was given regarding the replacement, Maybe will still be a part of LGD and act as the team's sixth member. LGD has also hinted at the formation of a second team with free reign being handed to Maybe, who in-turn can create a team according to his choice of players.
