The group stage and seeding deciders for TI13 are complete. Heading into the playoffs, let’s look at the team and hero statistics for the tournament till now.
The first four days of The International 2024 (TI13) are over, and the playoff brackets are decided. With the most recent TI format, no teams are eliminated in the group stages. Eight teams go to the upper bracket and eight go to the lower bracket, and the first eliminations will take place on Monday when the lower bracket games begin.
Each of the four groups had 12 games, and additional ones if tiebreakers were required. The group stage was followed by eight seeding decider best-of-3s, which determined the teams going to the upper bracket and lower bracket. In the group stage and seeding deciders, a total of 72 games were played. As we head into the TI13 playoffs, here is a look at the team and hero statistics for the games played till now.
All data was taken from datDota and Liquipedia.
TI13 Group Stage and Seeding Deciders Team Statistics
The thing that stands out in the team statistics is the defending champions and two time TI winners Team Spirit starting in the lower bracket even with a 75% win rate. The Eastern European team won all their group stage games 2-0, ending up with a 6-0 score at the end of the group stage, but had a bad showing in their seeding decider against nouns, which they lost 0-2. This is the thing about the new TI format, where the seeding decider can wipe out all the results from the group stage games.

The initial days of TI13 have showed a lot of varied picks as compared to what we have been used to seeing for the rest of the year, which is a good thing. Although 34 heroes have gone unpicked, there is reasonable variation in drafts and the meta is developing as the tournament progresses. A good example is Luna, who probably wasn’t predicted to be a force to be reckoned with at TI13, but is turning out to be one of the stronger carries in the tournament.
The table below shows the 15 most contested heroes in the 72 games played till now at TI13. A lot of the highly contested heroes like Kunkka, Mirana, Monkey King, Naga Siren, Sand King and Shadow Demon have been performing really well, and their high contest rate is justified. But many others like Doom, Dragon Knight, Enchantress and Sniper have been subpar. These are the heroes teams will want to start avoiding, unless it is a signature hero for one of their players or it fits extremely well in a draft. Their place will be taken by a few new heroes, and hopefully we get to see some of the 34 unpicked heroes when the TI13 playoffs begin on Sunday the 8th of September.
