Although the Finnish team won the counter-strike tournament, South Korea has been proclaimed world champion.
The finals, held at Jakarta, Indonesia, ended today and had the teams who were considered favorites meet at the best-of-three final. After winning against 5FRAGS and
Signature,
ENCE was about to meet
TyLoo - the team who past by
Athletico and
MVP project at the playoffs.
TyLoo’s choice, de_Mirage, was actually won by ENCE (16:14), while the finnish choice was lost at overtime on de_Cache (20:22). The decider was de_Train and Miikka “suNny” Kemppi’s team was able to secure the game 16:11 after an easy first half on ct-side (14:1).
Although Kemmpi’s team took home $10,000, every year the IeSF World Championship determines a champion based on the nation’s performance and placement on all three tournaments.
This year, Finland was second with Counter-Strike's second place and 9th on Hearthstone. Since MVP project won against Athletico for third place, South Korea was proclaimed champion after getting a first and fourth place in the League Of Legends and Hearthstone tournament, respectively.
