Dreamhack has just announced the third major of this year. It will be held during Dreamhack Winter on 27th-29th in Jönköping, Sweden and will feature a $250,000 community-funded prize pool. This is the second time that a CS:GO major is being hosted at Dreamhack Winter, followed by last year's first ever major also being played at this event.
Dreamhack's head of eSports, Tomas Lyckedal had the following to say about the event:
The tournament will feature sixteen teams in total, where the top eight team from ESL One Cologne are being directly invited. The other eight teams will have to secure their spot throughout the online qualifiers which are gonna be held during the October. Titan is among the invited teams because the three ex-Team LDLC players are now playing for this team so they got the rights on this spot.
There is also something new announced by the organizers. All the teams will get invited for a special boot camp before DreamHack Winter 2014, where all teams are invited to Stockholm to have the best possible training conditions before the event. DreamHack and Valve will support the teams with accommodation during their stay in Stockholm.
The list of the invited teams:
Ninjas in Pyjamas
Fnatic
Titan
Team Dignitas
Virtus.pro
Cloud9
Epsilon
Natus Vincere
The groupstages are scheduled to start on November 27th, while playoffs round 8 will be played on 28th and the semi and grand finals on 29th. The dates and location for pre-bootcamp are still to be announced. Tickets can be bought for 150 SEK for those who want to view the event.
