GGL's biggest community mistake? In a poll on what game you will be playing the most in March, they include WarCraft 3 DotA, but not WarCraft 3.
Global Gaming League is one of the biggest online tournaments in the world and have strived for and have succeeded with professionality. They seem to have a nice understanding of the gaming scene, but with a more passion for FPS games than RTS games. In their latest poll, they ask their users what game they will be playing in March. You'd of course expect the two biggest FPS games - Quake IV and Counter-Strike, and at least one RTS game. Looking down at the alternatives, you see:
Counter-Strike 1.6 / Source
Warcraft III DotA
World of Warcraft
Other!
Okay, two WarCraft titles in there, fine. But what? A custom game map, which actually is very popular, but no where near the popularity of playing the original game is included in the poll? Instead, the option other has 75% of the votes, where most of the users have mentioned the ever popular StarCraft and its brother WarCraft 3 in the comments. As Zerter writes in the comments, "Whats the point of a poll without Warcraft and StarCraft?" The GGL must be aware of that both games have a huge fanbase with many players still. Is this just a mistake by not including some of the games, or are the Global Gaming League administration such FPS lovers and RTS haters that they won't even include any?
Go show them that the WarCraft 3 is supposed to be on that list by voting "Other" and writing WarCraft 3 in the comments. Go!
