After a rocky 2009, the ESWC will return in 2010 with a grand final taking place in Disneyland Paris in mid-summer. The prize pool will hold $200,000 split out over eight games, one of them being WarCraft 3.

ESWC's original company, Games-Services, filed for bankruptcy in May and concluded their long run with ESWC Masters of Cheonan. In August, their trademark and brand was acquired by the French event company DIP-Organisation, who will now organize the event.

Qualifier tournaments for the grand final will kick off in the start of January next year, tells the press release although it remains unclear how the licensing will work. The organizers aim to gather 32 nations to take part in the ESWC revival.

DIP-Organisation also says in the press release that they are not in charge of any obligation to pay out the unpaid prize money or any other dept that was caused by the brand's previous owner, Games-Services. However, in order to keep the ESWC image unharmed and undamaged, they will try to find a way to compensate the last ESWC champions.
