T1 and Team Vitality have been dropped to the lower bracket and are now in danger of elimination.

It was an explosive Thursday (27 February) at VALORANT Masters Bangkok as the Playoffs kicked off with the upper bracket semifinals, with four teams clashing to secure their spot in the next round.

After the dust settled and all rounds were fired, EDward Gaming (EDG) overpowered T1, 2-1, while G2 Esports pulled off a 2-0 sweep over Team Vitality.

Both EDG and Team Vitality were the strongest teams in the Swiss Stage, being the first to qualify for the Playoffs after cruising through their opening matchups.

Meanwhile, G2 and T1 took different routes — T1 survived an early elimination match with a 2-0 sweep over Trace Esports before taking revenge on VCT Pacific Kickoff champions DRX in a 2-0 upset. G2, on the other hand, started strong but fell to EDG, 2-1, in the second round before bouncing back with a dominant 2-0 win over Team Liquid.

EDward Gaming defeat T1 in three maps

In the first game on Split, EDG came out swinging and demolished T1 with ten straight round wins. T1 only managed two rounds in the first half before putting up a fight in the second, stalling EDG's momentum by taking five more. However, EDG sealed the map with a 13-7 score to go 1-0 up in the series.

T1 then stepped up their game in the second game on Bind, keeping things close with EDG before a taking a 7-5 lead in the first half. They then ran away with the second half, dominating EDG 6-1 to close the map with a 13-6 score and force a deciding third game.

The closeout map was on Pearl, where both teams were neck-and-neck as the first half ended with a 6-6 tie. T1 pulled ahead with four straight rounds, but after a tech pause, EDG regained control and mounted a comeback to win 13-11 and secure the 2-1 series victory.

G2 upset Team Vitality in a 2-0 sweep

In the first game on Bind, Vitality started strong and pulled ahead early before G2 fought back to trim their opponents' lead down to 7-5 to close the half. The second half saw G2 struggle before rallying after their eighth round win, eventually tying things up at 12-12 to force overtime. Both teams took a round each, but G2 edged out Vitality in the final round to take the map with a 14-13 score.

Both teams then remained on equal footing throughout the first half of game twp on Lotus, with the first half finishing with a 6-6 tie. G2 pulled ahead in the second half, but Vitality stayed close on their heels. However, as the European team continued to inch closer to their opponents, G2 were able to close the score with 7 rounds in the second half to win the second game 13-10. With this series victory, G2 have also dealt Vitality their first loss of the tournament.

With these results, EDG and G2 Esports advance to the upper bracket finals, with a Grand Final spot on the line. Meanwhile, T1 and Team Vitality drop to the lower bracket semifinals, where one will be eliminated.
