Gen.G extend t3xture and Karon's contracts while Munchkin, Lakia, and Meteor enter free agency

It has not been confirmed if Munchkin, Lakia, and Meteor will sign an extension to stay with Gen.G or join other teams.

VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) Pacific Spring and Summer champions Gen.G, have officially announced the release of Byeon "Munchkin" Sang-beom, Kim "Lakia" Jong-min, and Kim "Meteor" Tae-o into free agency after the expiration of their contracts. Meanwhile, Kim "t3xture" Na-ra and Kim "Karon" Won-tae have re-signed with the team for the 2025 season. 

The announcements were made on Monday (7 October) in Gen.G’s official social media channels, including their X (formerly Twitter) account.

Munchkin, Lakia, and Meteor released into free agency

With the contracts of Munchkin, Lakia and Meteor having all expired, Gen.G have confirmed that the players actively seeking new opportunities. 

Despite this, Gen.G says in their statement that they are "in talks" with all three, leaving the door open for possible re-signings as the VCT Pacific transfer window opens.

Meteor, who has been with Gen.G the longest since joining in October 2022, became the cornerstone of the roster that saw a complete overhaul in 2024. 

Munchkin, recruited from T1, took on the role of in-game leader (IGL), while Lakia brought his experience from Dplus KIA.  Munchkin’s leadership was pivotal, and his performance earned him the MVP title at the VCT Pacific Stage 2 Finals.

In a recent post by Munchkin on his personal X account, he deleted his “LFT” tweet and replaced it with “I was FA [free agent] for 9 hours only,” and thanked everyone for their support. 

However, Munchkin has yet to reveal if he re-signed with Gen.G or signed with another team.

t3xture and Karon sign an extension with Gen.G

While three of its players from last season have entered free agency, Gen.G have confirmed that both t3xture and Karon will remain with the organisation after renewing their contracts for the 2025 season. 

The pair were instrumental in Gen.G’s impressive 2024 campaign, with t3xture earning the title of Pacific’s Duelist of the Year, while Karon quickly made a name for himself as one of the brightest rookies in the esports scene.

Gen.G’s standout 2024 season was highlighted by their historic triumph at VALORANT Masters Shanghai, securing the Pacific's first international victory in the game. The team also claimed victories at the VCT Pacific KICKOFF and Stage 2 events, but ultimately fell short toward the end of the season, after finishing  9th-12th at VALORANT Champions Seoul.

Alongside t3xture and Karon, Gen.G have ensured consistency within their coaching staff. Kang "solo" Keun-chul will continue as head coach, while Kim "HSK" Hae-seong will remain as head of strategy. 

This coaching team played a pivotal role in developing the roster and leading the team to their international win at Masters Shanghai.
